Ok one of my xbox 360's is giving me disk read errors so i want to swap to a hitachi drive that i have. what software would i use and how would i spoof the hitachi with the samsung firmware?

Get Textbooks tutorial it is all explained in it -> search for it on Google

Oh well, am assuming here that you do at least know how to dump the Samsung firmware, if not go to the newbie section and read a few posts there or read through textbooks tutorial again...
Once you have got it open the Samsungs firmware up with Firmware Toolbox, save the string in a notepad or so.
Then dump your hitachis firmware (which you have put into MODEB before and connected to your computer of course), it should automatically load its firmware, then go to the key textbox and copy and paste the key of the samsung drive into this textbox (from the notepad), then save at first.
Afterwards select Spoof firmware in Firmware ToolBox
and select your Samsung drive version string.
Afterwards save again and then flash this prepared firmware file back on your hitachi.

This should work.

ok thank god the disk read error was only a bad laser. replaced it and it works fine. thx for the help though. mods lock if you see this.

Ah okay, nice.
If the laser goes bad again try the pot tweak this will get it going again...
