Ok, im trying to set up streaming from my PC to my 360 in preparation for the Divx/Xvid update, but for some reason the damn thing cant find my PC. it finds other PCs in my network but I cant stream from those as they are in different dorm rooms. I also find 360s as media center extenders all the time, but when i put in the code from MY 360 it can't find it.

And i can connect to live perfectly fine (i love the uber fast network of UT tongue.gif )

My PC sees the 360 fine in the Vista network map:
IPB Image
I know that 360 is mine cause it has my IP address (im hoping there isnt some trojan or hijacker for 360s that can be executed remotely tongue.gif )

any help will be appreciated.

streaming usiong MCE is a bugger to setup sometimes.... make sure you got the ports open:-

Port Name Protocol Scope
2869 UPnP Framework TCP My network (subnet) only
1900 UPnP Framework UDP My network (subnet) only
10284 Windows Media Connect UDP My network (subnet) only
10283 Windows Media Connect UDP My network (subnet) only
10282 Windows Media Connect UDP My network (subnet) only
10281 Windows Media Connect UDP My network (subnet) only
10280 Windows Media Connect UDP My network (subnet) only
10243 Windows Media Connect TCP My network (subnet) only

You also need to check the share tab in WMP. If you still have problems check out xbox.com they have plenty of helpful info on there.

Well since i am only using the built in windows firewalls shouldnt those ports automatically open when i enable sharing in WMP and/or MC?

and for some reason under the sharing setting in WMP it finds a 360, but it has a different MAC address than mine.

i am totally lost

I had to specifically allow shared media to my 360 (and later, my roommate's 360). Did you enable it in the Network & Sharing Center?

I have it set up to share to new devices automatically, but for some reason the only way i can get my computer to see the 360 is by clicking on full network map. but i cant see MY 360 in the network and sharing center under media sharing...

Make sure that you have UPnP Device Host = enabled and started under services. If it is stopped or disabled, the 360 will not show up.

(type services.msc in the little 'start search' box on the bottom of the start menu in Vista to access the services running on your pc)

Hope this helps!

Clear the cache.

I was stumped as well yesterday. I could still see the wifes compaq on the network even though I had turned it off and my Thinkpad wasn't showing.

Did the cache clearing thingy and it found everything and worked after that.
