samsung ms25 Options

MS25 drive and 5.2b issue .. all 360 backups show dirty disk error, I tried 5.2a abd 5.2b but xb1 backups and reals work ok?

any suggestions as I have checked the key from my orig.bin and the x52x bins and they are correct?

Note, the orig xtreme fw worked on all backups, now no backups work.. Ritek DL's and NEC burner used.

just IMHO, I do not recommend 5.2B.
I feel 5.2A will give you the same safe 12x reading as original, and that using 5.2C or D will give you access to both speed. If you favour the 4x reading, I would rather recommend 5.2D. It has 4X as default until an original is inserted, giving you the options to run your backups at 12x as well.

I have seen a few people caught having problem with only 4x (5.2b) , and they had to reflash

also note that if you want to do 4x read speed, I would recommend using the best media (verb).

I tried the 52a first, was way too loud for me to handle and the same dirty disk issue on all 360 backups.

if the key was incorrect I would not be able to run XB1 backups correct?

Im just wondering if i need to go with 5.1 or a 4 series instead of 5.2?

if original plays, then the FW is correct,
1) it is your backup
How have you done the backup?
-for ss.bin which software & drive
-for game.iso which software & drive
-how was it merged

2) or hardware clean laser -->> pot calibration -->> replace laser is the usual order

orig extreme methods used to create backups.. all work 100% ok with the orig extreme flash from way back.

only after the update to 5.2A and B do I have issues, Do I need to insure it reports as the ms25? as the A version I selected A, A so was always fast and report as MS28

ok, loaded 4.3B and same effect, sneak king real disk loads but freezez during the vid, all backups get dirty disk error.

going to replace with version1 and test everything again.

version 1 now wont play backups, unreadable disk error.. sneak kink works though

opened the drive and cleaned the little easter bunnies out and the laser but that didnt help any, I hope the high speed run with the first x52a didnt hurt this thing as it was real loud

found one of my orig verbatim disks, fires right up... now heres the Q, what in the work happened as I have been using riteks for months with the old flash now I cant

Its the laser/media... You using poor media have degraded the laser. Try to clean the laser >> Pot Calibration >> New Laser. And from now on use Verbatim media.

But like I said, Ritec is not very good media. Yeah, it works. But in the long run not worth it as it degrades your laser. Get better Media.

Well I need a new drive or Laser at this point, reals and verbatums dont work 100% actually now.

any suggestions on getting a hitachi or is a new laser the way to go?

I'd get a new drive myself, just saves hassle. Also since you've had a Samsung it would be easier to get an M25 again or MS28.

Id rather get the better drive, not the easiest to use drive.
