I was in fact able to use a BENQ drive in the xbox that had a lite on drive in it.
I guess my topic title was a little off...all that was needed was the dvd key from the failed lite on drive I injected that into the BENQ firmware and wrote it to the drive. Has full support of XGD3 games and appears to be working without issues.

might be bad for live and get you flagged. Also might have problem doing dash updates so keep your original drive so you can do the updates for dashboards
