I though getting banned just denied you the right to do matching making and such? I heard that most ppl that got banned are still allowed to do custom games

QUOTE(matt987 @ Sep 18 2005, 01:59 PM) Not exactly. You boot your modded bios on your modded box and FTP hacked content into the downloadable maps (Warlock, Turf, and the like). These maps are stored on the HDD, and not on the removable media, so the hacked content now becomes part of the downloaded map. Once you boot your stock BIOS, you load the game disc which facilitates acces to the maps stored on the HDD, which now have illegally modded content and can be used ONLY on the downloaded maps, but no mod need be enabled. Enter the greatness of the BANHAMMER update. You MUST download this to play H2 on LIVE. This update enables the Bunie sorftware to access your downloaded maps and scan them for hacked content. This happens early and often, hence the great number of bans since its initiation. It finds a file not written by the guys in Redmond and *voila* you're banned from matchmaking.
