I power up the 360, insert the DVD+R DL that I burnt the activate.iso to (using Clone CD), then wait until I hear the disc spin (about 5 - 10 secs) then fire up my XP PC.
The drive does not show in Windows under My Computer or Device Manager.
I have tried leaving the activate DVD in and taking it out before I boot the PC with no success.
If I flash the xtrm0800.bin firmware to it, it shows in Windows all the time.

I have burnt some backup games and they work fine.
The issue is that when I use the Activate DVD (Enable0800), the drive does not show in Windows. (Is the 360 light supposed to flash after the DVD is spun up?)
If I flash the Samsung with the Xtreme0800 firmware (from Xtreme2.0 package) then the drive shows in Windows 100% of the time.

I can't recall if the light flashes? I stopped using the enable 0800 disc when I got the samsung SH-D162C drive. I was still using the enable disc from the xtreme 20 release prior to that, boot 360 with disc in wait 10 seconds eject disc then boot pc, should show in bios as a detected drive. What firmware you flashed to the drive xtreme30 with your key in it?

Yeah it worked fine for me...I'm using the xecutor kit for power...all i did was connect the drive up to my computer turn my computer on, hit the eject button on my kit and insert the disc...once windows loaded I hit the eject kit button a couple more times to get the drive to spin....surfed the net for alittle bit to make sure it had enough time to read....then ejected the disc with the kit's button and windows picked it up

How is your 360 drive connected the PC? SATA? Or USB (using SATA-USB adapter)?

I'm flashed to Xtreme v3 using a VIA chipset, but I haven't even tested the activate.iso that I burned. I'll be pissed if I just wasted a DL disc and can't even use the built-in 0800 mode. In any case, my external sata mod makes it easy to flash to the manual 0800 firmware, which does work with my chipset.

If the activate.iso works for you then I'll be peeved off.

Be peeved off. Using Xtreme v3, the SYBA VIA VT 6421L PCI SATA card from Newegg, and updated v5.30c drivers from www.viaarena.com. Activate.iso works fine for me. Inserted disc, waited ten second, hit eject, then hotplugged inside Windows and it showed right up.
