A new version of my Singularity (WIP 2) skin is coming soon.

4:3 , 16:9 and HD 720P. With 4 Themes (for now)
Re-Worked every config. New fonts added.
Added proper Previews (thanks for the tip Gilou, what a f****** nightmare that was !)
Added more sprites. ETC, Blah, Blah, Blah.
An extra "Background" music pack will also be available as a seperate download.

Within a few days i will upload it. Just finishing testing every config.

Because of the changes "you", the end user, will have to delete the old skin
to avoid conflicts as things have moved around especially in the sprite folder.

Obviously keep any modded configs of your own and re-apply them to the new folder.
Because some sprites have moved you will have to config the odd one or two bits of your own work.

"I will not answer questions from any user who doesnt follow this guideline"

PS. You must also check out "any" work made by Gilou.

Wow... did you figure out how to apply a different background image for a different skin configuration cbagy?

If that's the case, we may be able to have just one skin for things like the Genesis/Megadrive and the TurboGrafx16/PCE.

How did you get he 4 different backgrounds for the rom menu?

Its not hard at all. I did this from day one. The backgrounds can be named anything ! It seems others have followed the Xport naming convention too strictly. Any sprite or graphic can be named anything. All sprites and backgrounds can be re-configured from the emulator.
ie- xport uses gameselect.jpg for the gameselect background. It doesnt have to be called that ! Naming is irrelevant. The way i have named and numbered things also allows for me to create more plugin themes and insert them without having to re-build the whole thing. So once ive finished, i can create downloadable themes that just "plugin" and away you go.
The real beauty is that the end users can delete any graphics not relevant to their particular settings
without affecting their emulator.

ie- HD users arent interested in SD or Wide, so backgrounds, sprites and configs with a SD or Wide
name can be deleted and use everything thats HD only.

I was, and still might, break the packs into SD, Wide and HD packs. That way the download is smaller and
only relevant to your TV. It will also allow more room for plugins as far as memory goes. As things stand with all 4 themes with 3 different Definitons (12 skins in all) i still havent reached the memory ceiling. YET !

PS. This works lovely on NeoGenesis too. Obviously branding is different but the core is the same.

Interesting.

I'll have to take a look at how you got your skin set up when you upload them. I'm wouldn't have known where to start on these skins... I'm just cleaning up naming conventions and making sure Gilles' newest artwork is in all the skins so far.

Unfortunately, testing against memory restrictions using the NES isn't going to tell you too much. I think you can cram that skin pretty full without ever worrying about that. You may have gone past the limit on other emus like winaeux, dosbox and Genesis already though.

Looking forward to having a second, and hopefully a third and forth and twentieth choice for Dynamic Skins in the future. It's a pretty cool setup, isn't it?

No not reached limit on NeoGenesis yet, still going strong. Could "ADD" probably another 25% graphics.
SD is no problem anyway. Its HD that eats up 4 -5 mb more memory.
The secret is shared resources.
May hold on for release for another day as im gonna add a radical theme which im exited about.
Starting work now anyway.

Finally got access to a SD 16:9 Wide TV (yes the skins were built without a SD TV).
I immediately noticed a lot of overscan on the TV i was using.
Beefed up some of the configs, added another new theme.
Will fix for WIP 3. Perhaps a few days.

At the same time WIP 3 comes out i will also release its twin for NeoGenesis.

Thanks a lot. That quick comment there saves me a lot of time.
I do realise that a lot of TV's overscan is different.
Again thanks for that.

@Likklebaer.

Was wondering if you would test WIP 3 in 16:9 WideScreen for me. Obviously i can do the HD stuff myself. I have a reliable source for the 4:3 SDTV stuff. I have changed the layout a bit as i have re-built all the preview dialogues to the correct aspect ratio as they were build before using artwork with the wrong ratio (not guilty). So with these new, slightly larger sprites, theres slightly less room at the edges of the screen. Dont feel you have to, no pressure. Let me know either PM or on this board.

Well heres the WIP 2+ draft of the MednafenX dynamic skins for NES.
Its also the last as i dont bother with the NES.
Someone who is starting out can pick this up and carry it on.

HD + WideScreen http://www.mediafire.com/?wigif31wtlf
SD http://www.mediafire.com/?zyggezzz3kz

I am now concentrating solely on Genesis/Megadrive.
WIP skin very soon.
