I have installed a fan and numerous LED's so far so I know a little. I was told 30 gauge wire, but a guy in an electronics shop just ended up giving me some and they work.

I installed a fan behind the power button, in front of the large heatsink. There is a tutorial on installing a fan here. You will notice there is a part at the front of the circuit board that has 3 soldered holes and 1 clean through. You can install a fan connector here and plug a standard PC fan into it, or just wire a fan on.

You can also find a bunch of pics that identifies places to wire to for power.

I like to add a fan blowing downwards on the GPU heat pipe on the old style GPU heat sink, This has givin me the best resuts, usually dropping temps a good 10C - 20C depending on which model motherboard . If you have the old style CPU heat sink with the heat pipe, you can fit a 70mm X 15mm in there pretty nicely without modification of the case. If you have the bigger CPU heat sink without the heat pipe, a 45mm X 15mm fits nicely on top of the GPU heat pipe, you just need to secure it. If you have the GPU heat sink without the heat pipe I suggest picking one up on ebay. I like to use Q9F1 for 12V and any Ground works, but check this thread and decide where you want to solder the fan to . As for the wiring just use the wires from the fan you're using. Also if your running a Jtag use Freestyle to set your fans to 65%+ and watch your temps drop. Here's a pic of a 70mm fan on one of my old testing 360s.

That how im going to put the fan. LED's would be pretty cool too.
Thanks but what i mean about the wire what i want to do is get two wires and solder them under the power port. and then the other end solder it to a 3 pin (male) and then connect the fan from there. But not sure what kind of wires i will use dat will last and wont burn out.

PS. if theres a better way to do it, please let me know.

You could just solder to a power source and ground on top of the motherboard. save you from running wires from the bottom side of the motherboard. I've used the Q9F1 MOSFET for 12V for 4 or 5 360s with no problems.

But the problem is that the fan wire is not that long

my fav way is to do the front fan header mod. its fairly simple and by far cleanest way to add a fan where u want it

rgall0's front fan header tutorial

i would strongly advise you dont drill into the board tho.

This one also look pretty good im guessin i will go wit this one. why do you advice me not driling into the mother board.

Do you have any guides of how to install LEDS

Drilling through the MB will cause a lot of vibrations and possibly static electricity. Anyway you can easily put a fan connector there by desoldering, I did it.

With multiple wiring of LED's i suggest to do them in parallel, for the same reason why everyone hates the older x-mas tree lights.

A little stand with alligator clips is going to be handy for soldering these. Dont forget you will need to work out what resistor you are going to need according to your power source.

there was another tutorial i saw but i cant find it, it was in this website too, ill try finding it, and post it.

But wouldnt it be the the same way desoldering and as drilling it. That my opion.
i dont need that soldering paste.

i will get to the LEDs once i get the fan install.

when drilling you can lift the solder pads making it very hard to install
i lifted 2 solder pads doing a ring of light mod and had to solder to the trace line.. not fun stuff

To get the solder out of the front fan header use a solder wick.

The gauge of wire to use for your fans and leds depends on current going through the wire.

For leds, 30 gauge is fine.

For the fan, it depends on how much current it is rated at. Should say on the fan. It may say how many watts it is, but to find out current, take watts/volts.

Then use this chart to determine minimum gauge.

Most likely 30 would be fine but with multiple fans and led's, 28 would be best.

so is better to desolder it and the put the 3 pin and solder it

umm changing subject here for a question.
if i reflow the xbox mb and putting the x-clamps back would that be better than doing the x-clamp fix of E74 xbox
