90% of Cube games support 480p.

Yeah isn't it crazy
http://www.hdtvarcade.com/hdtvforum/index....mp;page=hdlists

Here is the GC lists, easily more than the PS2. Don't know why so few, GC component cables, were made esp. when so many games support it.
http://www.hdtvarcade.com/hdtvforum/index....page=gamecubeac

I believe the biggest reason for PS2 component cables was due to the DVD playback feature of the system.

Actually about two years ago or so the nintendo stopped producing gamecubes with the option to hook up component cables. Up until that point you could go to the nintendo website and buy component cables for the gamecube for 30 bucks. After the hardware stopped supporting the component cables the price of the cables went up.

The PS3 should still have component cables included in the box. It is stupid that they didn't do this. A HDMI cable would cost to much than fine put in the cheapy component cables that would have cost next to nothing. It is a mistake and a let down and I am still bewildered by it.

I shouldn't have to buy them, that thing is like $600!! It should come with an HDTV.

agreed. and although the following comment holds weight:

QUOTE(epsilon72 @ Nov 12 2006, 08:39 PM) *

It would take a huge amount of money for Sony to provide them, but probably less than 10% of PS3 users will actually use them. If you plan on getting the system, just buy a $6.50 HDMI cable from monoprice.com.

it still does not explain why ive got component with my 360.

QUOTE(silentbob343 @ Nov 12 2006, 06:20 AM) *

Again, all of this was covered in prior threads. You last comment tells me that you think the PS3 is over priced; which leads me to believe you have no plans of owning one, or at least any time soon, and that your sole purpose was to stir up controversy.

Sony has made a lot of stupid mistakes and most have been covered ad nauseum in this section.

haha, funny. i like controversy smile.gif, i think the ps3 is overpriced (in europe) but i do have plans to buy one....
sony needs to get their fucking act together - in fact so do MS (they are closer to 'good behaviour' in this regard) - they need to realise that whether its the US market or the EU one, a console sold is a console sold. yes, its a loss. but its market share. both firms need to stop being pussies and stop ripping off the EU. first one that does wins. seriously, $808 (official), and $1046 for a ps3 according to amazon and curries? get fucked! considering that the 360 has been $570 (premium) since launch with one game included you start to see that the US market might not be the battlefield. don't get me wrong, ill get a ps3 - in a year at this rate............

maybe ive got my maths wrong - im not good at it at the best of times, but am sampling a new beer called 'cheers' on ko san road - 5.7% my arse...........biggrin.gif

Yea I have one of those gamecubes and it pisses me of. Why is it whenever nintendo cuts costs, we have to pay for it!?

Im not saying other companies dont do it but nintendo does it on a whole new level!

I wouldn't say it's overpriced when they are taking a loss on the unit. I will agree that the console is expensive.

Funny that you mention the lack of 480P on most PS2 titles and yet the system that did utilize 480P.....

Who are you kidding? Like i mentioned previously, 95+% of ps2 games did not support 480p. And still to this day new ps2 games are not supporting 480p.....Okami, FFXII. Why you ask? Because the games are renderd internally at 320 x 240.....240p. That way the ps2 can handle the games, whereas 480p would kill the framerate.

What are you talking about? I said most PS2 games didn't support it..agreeing with you.

"and yet the system that did utilize 480P" ahh you cut off the quote. That was in reference to the GC. Other people understood I was referring to the GC.

The entire quote reads:
QUOTE
Funny that you mention the lack of 480P on most PS2 titles and yet the system that did utilize 480P, Nintendo GC, produced very limited amounts of component cables for their system.

use your PS2 cables tongue.gif

and sure what's another $10....multiply by 480,000 units on the 17th launch = a lot of money.

Actually a set of component cables that are equal quality to the composit cable already included would have cost next to nothing.

It is bad business to make a console out to be the best HDTV solution and then not have it be capable of HDTV out of box. mad.gif

Stupid Stupid Stupid decision, Bad sony tongue.gif

I know you like to play devils advocate but come on man!

Sony could have left the composit on with the component like the 360 did. This is a standard cable configuration that is very common.

Not sure how old this topic is but its funny that microsoft found an option. Their HDTV cable in the premium has composite and component so sony could have done something simaler very easily. And you guys are talking online prices for sony to create a component cable might cost them 1 dollar. Sure it costs 10 dollars online but those companys have to make money smile.gif.
