The IP 192.168.1.1 is your router so that is what we need to get access to first to trace the problem. Since you are able to ping the router then we need to access the settings on it to see what is showing for connections.
When all is working correctly, you should be able to access the router using -http://192.168.1.1 in IE, there you will get a password window which you will leave the user name blank and enter"admin" for the password". Until we can get into it I feel we are blocked from doing anything else. The rest will come once we can gain full communications with the router. PS I got your PM but I do not run with MSN on these towers that I am using, sorry. |

hmmm
IE says "The page cannot be displayed" Then all the way at the bottom it says "Cannot find server or DNS Error" Firefox says "The connection was refused when attempting to contact 192.168.1.1" This post has been edited by Jmssmith282: Sep 14 2005, 03:47 PM |

QUOTE Thats strange earlier i got these results back: Pinging 192.168.1.1 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time=260ms TTL=247 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time=237ms TTL=247 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time=267ms TTL=247 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time=276ms TTL=247 Ping statistics for 192.168.1.1: Packets: sent = 4, Recieved = 4, Lost = 0 <0% loss>, Aprroximate round trip times in mili-seconds: Minimum = 237ms, Maximum = 276ms, Average = 260ms Thats an awfully high number I would expect the time to say time=<1ms Anyway, now that I've got mine working your xbox should display its IP address is this so?? If so ignore all this other stuff and try to connect to it (ping if fails) with the SP2 firewall off. PS - I donot do remote assistance over anything but my LAN, If you make it available over the Net you are asking for trouble, There is a lot of stuff happens befor you get notified about the request. I had a problem like this a few days back. Turns out windows automatically set up a DNS address for me. I put that back to "Get DNS Server Address Automatically" and it worked fine. See if thats your problem.
Right-Click your "Peeps" connection and hit "Properties". When in that menu, click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Hit the "Properties" button. Then see if you have a pre-set DNS address and hit Get Automatically. |
