There are some good tuts on maxconsole which should help you, like these ones:
Who said game saves are in xbe format?
If the topic is beyond your intellectual capacity &/or you have nothing helpful to say then don't chime in.

KM

You implied it, telling him to convert the xbe which does not relate in any way shape or form to his original question. Yet you say the topic is beyond my intellectual capacity. What I said was helpful, it questioned the misinformation you gave him without being a complete dick and trying to flat out insult you like you tried to do to me. There is nothing wrong with admitting that you don't know something. Its part of how life is.

As to the original poster:

Editing the game saves is actually a bit complicated since they are encrypted to keep people from messing with them, even when they are unencrypted its hard to make sense of the data contained in them.

Depending on how much you play your xbox I would actually suggest a modchip and a larger hard drive. With this you'll be able to use cheats both myself and nop2k1 created back when this game was big. Your section option is a software mod but hardware mods have a bit more advantages.

For example, with a mod chip and larger hard drive you are able to run programs like XBMC which have a ton of cool features that the 360 based some aspects of the new xbox live off of. You can also back up any game disc you have to play directly from the hard drive (but you cant play online with that)

You can find a bit of useful information on my website : www.snowfox.biz if you have any questions I'll be more than happy to discuss it 1 on 1 with you. Good luck and happy modding

Not intending to correct snowfox here, but even without a modchip or bigger hdd you can run XBMC or any other application on an xbox. I do however suggest a bigger hdd purely because of the advantages extra memory offers. Like being able to back your most played games, especially if you have young children. Or backing up your movies, pictures, and music, without having to stream any of it if you want to watch, look, or listen to any of it.

I do offer one warning here, however. From personal experience, I loved PSO before I ever hacked it. But after hacking the game and no longer having to hunt down rares I lost interest in it. If you truly enjoy playing this game then I suggest just hacking the items that were online exclusives or better yet not hacking it at all. The most enjoyable part of PSO was the excitement of finding that uber rare item and if you hack that item instead, all the enjoyable factors of PSO will be lost. You have been warned.

Depends on the ammount of hard drive space left. Generally speaking most people that I've spoke to that have done the softmod run out of space and/or other issues come up. If the only game they wish to modify/have on their hard drive is pso, then the normal harddrive and evolution x will do just fine unless they have a ton of data stored.

I am big fan of the 120gb hdds myself. I have one in each of my 3 modded xboxs halo crystal and elcheapo clear case. You can easily attain one online for $60-$75 as well check our shopping forums for deals there but do use caution who you buy from. soft modding is not a bad idea either my halo has a chameleon chip the other two are soft modded and work just as good. I got the softmodded mbs from this site for like $65 shipped a few years ago. As snowfox mentioned you can back up your games and play directly from hdd without loading a disc everytime.

not sure who the post "flame elsewhere" was intended for, I must have missed it. But I would like to add that I was able to purchase 2 320 GB HDD's for my 2 modded xbox's for $80 apiece brand new. So if hacking PSO is your desire then I suggest looking around and getting the best bang for your buck.

Thats an AWESOME deal on harddrives. I can't imagine having that much disc space on my xbox though. I have a 120gb and still goin strong.

As to the flame elsewhere comment I believe the guy was flaming and his post was edited because of it.

If you live in the US, I found those hdds(Maxtor IDE) at CompUSA. But I periodically check the ads in my local paper just to see if Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples, or CompUSA are having sales on hdd's with the hope of finding another great deal on them. Also, newegg.com is a wonderful site if you're not aprehensive about buying stuff online.
