I have to send in my 360 for repair again. They told me not to send in the HD. If I go out and get a core unit and pop the hard drive on it, will it screw with my settings when I put it back on the unit I get back from MS?

No. Profiles and such are all saved on the hard drive. Only thing you may have to change back are system settings, but nothing to do with your profile.

So what you are saying is that the Hard Drive is like a 20 gig memory card? Where you can transfer it from xbox to xbox with the same profiles, demos, and etc marketplace material.
