Ubisoft President - Christmas 07 will be key
Posted by XanTium | October 12 14:36 EST

From gamesindustry.biz:
[QUOTE]
Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot has told GamesIndustry.biz that he believes Christmas 2007 will be an important factor in determining who wins the next-gen console war.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Guillemot said, "I think next Christmas will really be key. In January 2008, we will have a really good idea of who is going to win in this generation."
Guillemot believes it's too early to predict how market share will be split in the new cycle; however, he did state, "For sure, Nintendo and Microsoft will play a bigger role than in the last cycle."

Hmm... My gut feeling is that if Microsoft hasn't already won the "war" by next Christmas then they never will.

sony fanboys > MS fanboys

seriously, since when did MS start getting fanboys? rhetorical question.

Many months ago I came to the conclusion that I might be reading "slightly" biased news on xbox-scene and ps3-scene, and judging from real world reactions from people that only know the title 'ps3' not specs and issues.... ps3's way ahead

why do we need analysts for these predictions... should be common sense: "07 will determine the winner"

MS is going to be the kings and Xbox live is going to be the fact to the 1st place of next gen.

Nintendo are also going to be really strong, i mean having the price $249.99 makes almost everyone can afford it, even people that are allready going to own a PS3 or 360 will posebly buy a wii just beacuse of the price (and now comes the best part) Being able to buy old nintendo games for 5 to 10$ is a console seller!

who would not enjoy to play all the classics games and have them stored on their nextgen console?

that goes both for the 360 and Wii! pop.gif

Sony did not care abaut online play ín their latest 2 console atleast nothing that did stand out.
and i dont think they are going to have anuthing speciel this gen!

Those of us that already own them, or have them "backed up" on our original Xbox's. ph34r.gif

a price of $249.99 guarantees NOTHING. the gamecube debuted at that price, and remained less than the ps2 and xbox, even till this day. where did that get it? last place, that's where! the wii SEEMS unique, and offers a new gaming experience. BUT, it does look a little gimmicky. are the games going to be engaging enough to play for more than a 1/2 hour?

i'd like nothing more than to see the wii succeed, but i'm not sold until i can play the games.

True, but those people who are saying "I'm getting a PS3," are probably not the ones that have seen the news on the PS3 costing $600.00 either. Those people will be much more quiet after they see this stuff hit their local news media closer to Christmas and they'll be the ones that Nintendo and Microsoft will be waiting to grab up. The PS3 fanboys are the ones that would pay anything for the console, the other people you talk of are only speaking the name because Playstation has almost replace "playing Nintendo" the same way a tissue is a Kleenex. They don't know what they're in for when they say they're going to get a PS3 when it comes out.

Depends on how you look at it. Nintendo doesn't have alot of options, they HAVE to make profit on each console. They are relatively small compared sony and MS, plus their finicky shareholders run the show. So they crack the whip everytime Nintendo loses money.

Bottom line: Nintendo has alot more to lose than MS or Sony, so they can't afford to have losses.

Remember what happened to sega? Well that can possibly happen to Nintendo if dont make profits on their consoles. That would probably never happen to MS.
