Hey all,

Well I’ve got my hands on a 360 console with a slight problem. The drive will not open, I’ve got it opened up and the is a Toshiba Samsung TS-H943 drive. I don’t know if there is a way to fix such a problem but I’ve thought it might be easier to replace it. I can get a new replacement TS-H943 (link below). What I want to know is if it is possible to just take one out and put the other one in? If not what is it that I have to do to make the console recognize the new drive?

each drive has a unique key specific to your console. So any new drive would have to be injected with the key from your original drive.
Read through the Hacking section under dvd rom section for loads of info on how to do this.

Thanks, I thought it would be the drive key... Ive got a pretty cool program called "XBOX 360 HACK PACK RC1" downloading now, do you think I will be able to chage and copy the drive keys with that? Cheers.

One other thing... I have an old 360 with 3RLOD that I cant fix (must have done everything but still no joy) its got a hitachi drive if I remember correctly would I be able to use that drive and flash it with the key from the TS one?

Ok so today I will get the key from the broken TS drive and change the key on the Hitachi so that they match, right? Sorry its been a while since I did anything on any XBOXs but would I be right in thinking that iXtreme 1.4 is the latest firmware at the moment? Is it banned from playing on XBOX Live?

Ive looked around but I cant seem to find anything that tells me how I can extract the drive key from the TS drive and what software to use? I am very new at this and I am not quite sure how I can tell if my sata card (VIA VT6421A) has detected the 360 drive? Since it is broken I dont want to do anything to it appart from find the drive key and then I can flash the new drive with the key from this one. Plesse help, I need to do this quickly! =) THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP SO FAR GUYS!
