Great news for all of you wanting to watercool the PS3! Koolance with 2-3 weeks is coming up with a custom waterblock that should be for PS3

That liquid cooled PS3 is not using the Koolance PS3 kit.

Here are pic's of the PS3 liquid cooling kit.

I am also interested in watercooling the PS3 except I want some huge waterblock. Because in xbox 360 the small koolance waterblocks don't cool down the remaining RAM components etc.

@ps3fw = Yep saw that top box on the PS3 forums. Nice. - could use a lil clean up work, but still nice none the less! I checked out the page on the Koolance stuff and still no price - I'm sure it will be expensive. smile.gif

Confirmation of another waterblock from the popular manufacturer Innovatek. We all know the products Innovatek makes are the best quality around. I placed an order on them myself and hope to see them in 1-2 weeks.

Wow, that thing looks nice, but how pricey was it? I know the x-matic for the 360 cost an arm and a leg which is why most people went for other waterblocks.

Hey guys,

I was googling for watercooled PS3 projects when I came across this thread (and this forum!). I'm currently putting together bits of kit to water cool my PS3. I'm doing this just for the fun and the challenge, and I have one of the "noisy" original consoles. My PS3 is out of warranty, so I figure what the hell biggrin.gif

I've opted to use a passive solution - Zalman Reserator 2. I've already ordered the Innovatek PS-Matic block shown above, and I will replace the 10/8 compession fitting with 8mm barbs so the Zalman tubing will fit over it. I will then use a Smart plug like this to turn both on at the same time. I'm also thinking of getting a quiet USB powered fan to move a bit of air through the rest of the system (to cool mosfets, RAM etc.).

I have everything figured out except for one problem... I can't find the Reserator 2 for sale anywhere in the UK!! Has this model been discontinued? If anyone can point me to somewhere in UK/Europe that sells it I would very much appreciate it smile.gif

Cheers,

Suman

If your fan is loud it's prob. because the bracket that holds the fan is tweaked. I would argue with you that mine wasn't before I fixed it. I ordered new/used fan from ebay and it's just like new now. fun stuff! As far as water cooling goes, more power to ya. I'm not going to because I have 2 pitbulls and a cat that likes to chew on things.

How do you mean the fan bracket is tweaked?

I have received my Infectus PS3 modchip from Italy. I now start to open my PS3. Detailed pictures will be provided to Koolance corp and posted around the net and here as well. Once the Modchip is installed i will watercool the PS3 as it makes moving around the motherboard much easier.
I am doing a thorough analysis of the onboard fw and a lot of other work. I will keep you guys updated of progress.

i dont know what you would do with a modchip and no firmware to suport it. its worthless at this point in time

this from the infectus modchip forum: http://www.infectus.biz/forum/index.php?PH...mp;topic=2062.0

Read first before asking about PS3 modchips!
« on: June 14, 2008, 12:11:37 am »

The infectus will allow you to dump and reflash your NAND (firmware chip). It will NOT allow you to play backups. IF a custom firmware comes out one day, you can use the infectus to flash it to the system. Due to Sony sueing companies that make and sell modchips for any Sony system, development of PS3 modchips is slow to nonexistant. Don't ask if/when there will be a PS3 modchip for backups. NOONE knows.
