I have been searching for quite some time for the PERFCET xbox 360 HDTV! I was realy sold on this sony 60" LCD,

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP....ction_55to70TVs

But im somewhat concerned with a pixel burning out. (not sure of the "technical" term?) Im definatly not looking to replace this TV for a while. 5-6 yrs at least! and as I understand it, that CANT be fixed! The day before I was going to buy it, my friend ran into this EXACT same issue with his sony 60" LCD that he bought around x-mas! They are replacing it under his 4yr service plan, but what if it happens after 4 years?

Anyways, now I have changed my mind, and im ready to buy this TV.

http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/nabc/pr...HLR6167WX%2fXAA

It seems to have all the features ill need for xb360. (1080i/720p....) I have heard alot about "dark levels", but it looks GREAT in the bright store? The room its going in, it will pretty much cover the ony window! biggrin.gif What do you guys think? I know M$ just signed on with Samsung, and they have been around for a LONG time. This will be my first Samsung, and DLP though. I hear bulbs arnt TOO expencive? Anyone have any experience with this unit? Something similar mabey? What would the tech gurus recomend? NO plasma's though! I hear too much about fade!

Im running a sony 32" now, but I REALY want something BIG! The wife keeps telling me to be sure to get EXACTLY what I want/need! (shes tired of hearing about it!) Any pros/cons would be great! Thanks guys!

I guess my only real concern is the "rainbow" effect. Ive never seen it before, so im not too sure what im looking for? Like I said DLP's are new to me. Im so used to having a tube. sad.gif I cant wait to play Ghost Recon 3, and Gears of War on it though!!! (or ANY 60" for that matter!!!) love.gif

Yea, I wouldnt say spoiled since "I" had to work for it! I waited a LONG TIME for a TV this size! That 60" sony posted above is the same one my friend is exchanging now. He bought it at the after thanksgiving sale LAST thanksgiving! I cant belive its already broken!?! blink.gif The service ppl are coming to look at it in a few days. They are bringing a new one with them, since they dont think they can fix it. I waited too long to have to do it again, thats why im staying away from the LCD's.

I though the only differences between the sony you mentioned, and the one I listed were yours has 1 extra jack for everything, and it has "simulated" surround sound? Nothing wrong with that, but for the same price I couldve gotten the tv AND a mid range suround sound unit/5 dvd changer. I dont need 4 of every jack anyways, and ill be playing dvds with the 360! tongue.gif

Ive decided I am getting the samsung. I just need to get with my friend (with the truck) to go and pick it up. I dont trust them to deliver it!

I "think" im going to pick up a samsung 5.1 suround sound while im there. (with the $$$ I saved!) There is a nice one on sale for arround $250 at circuit city. What do you guys think? I dont want THEATER loud, just all four corners kicking. smile.gif Not sure if I should go with samsung, or mix it up? I havent realy resarched them much......too busy lookin at tv's! biggrin.gif

What do you guys think of this one?

Yeah well my parents got great jobs and they worked their asses of to get where they are, so I think its fair for them to spoil themselves every now and then.

No offense but I think he was refering to them spoiling YOU.

after all you did say:

Nothing wrong with spoiling yourself... but it's been my experience that most spoiled children only THINK they appreciate what they have.

Not saying that's you just that's where he's probably coming from.

The Samsung should be great. The rainbow effect is only visible when you are looking for it and you can only see it in scenes that are dark. When watching the tv during the day it's almost impossible to see it (with exceptions of course). So don't worry about it at all because it's not as bad as the plasma buffs want you to believe it is.

As for being spoiled and not appreciating it... I appreciated my stuff quite a bit actually. I wasn't really spoiled til my mom married a guy whos business grew and made descent (using that word losely) money. But those years went by fast and I now no longer get those luxeries because my parents payed for my school so they won't pay for anything else anymore, lol. But I'm not complaining by ANY means. But if you wanna see the true definition of spoiled, go to a high school parking lot and look at all the brand new cars. You think THEY payed for those? HA Those little pricks.... lol
