After 4 years I finally got my first RROD. It's on the old Pro/Premium version or whatever. The thing is though... I understand that usually people get it after their console overheats in the middle of the game? I just randomly turned it on after not playing with it for a few weeks and it suddenly has 3 red lights. Is this normal?

Also, which would be the best way to fix it? Does the X-Clamp thing work?

the 3rrod is completely random. heat is a factor and could have been caused from your last gaming session when the console cooled down after turning it off.

x-clamp replacement is a decent temp fix but the best temp fix is to reball/reflow the CPU and GPU with professorial equipment.

Is there some kind of a permanent fix? I've heard people putting their 360's into ovens or something.
Unfortunetly I don't have any professional equipment.

The only permanent fix is a new console. The problem comes down to a design flaw of the console itself and cant be just permanently fixed without a new design which a new console does.

And by the way to oven thing... leave ovens for food and keep consoles out of them. lol

Do the x-clamp fix if you want a somewhat cheap temp fix that may last a while. Then save up around $100 and get a used Jasper 360 that wont get the 3rrod.

By permanent I meant pretty much as permanent as a regular old 360. It's obvious that anything won't be permanent, even the regular 360 (older ones) aren't, but something as permanent. I mean this one lasted for 4 years.

But anyway, is it certain that Jaspers can't get RROD's. Would it maybe make more sense to get a slim? If you can even hack slims? I've heard some people talking lately that there is a way...

The first batch of Slims can be modded now.

However with the new dashboard update that just came out that is flashing all drives back to a stock firmware this changes things somewhat.

What do you mean the first batch? How many are there? Are there already different drives like the fat one had?
And how does the new fw exactly change things? Let's say someone does update their 360, can't they just reflash it?

There are now at least 3 drive revisions in the Slim.

As for the update look HERE for all the info you need to know.
