OK I dont have an xbox 360 but from what Im reading you can now backup games that you own onto your computer? And can you then burn those games to dvd's to be played in the 360. So that you dont scratch the originals. And if I understad correctly there is no mod chip involeved? Is that the state of it right now?

You can back anything up as long as you dont have to bypass security features on the disc. Hope that helps.

Check out a few threads in the DVD Firmware forum. If you modify your DVD drive firmware, then yes. But the technical details are not so simply explained.
Go read a tutorial (not flaming.. they'll honestly explain it much better than a quick summing up will).

If you don't move your 360 you won't have a problem.
not true... some people have had their discs destroyed while the system remained still.
anyways.. there are numerous ways an original could get scratched or destroyed, and with a backup, that chance is dropped to nearly 0%.
you have heard of the concept of people having children right? they like to destroy things.

if a disk gets destroyed then call the publisher...they will give you an address to send the defunct copy.. on receipt they'll send you a new copy... all sorted.. no backups required.
