Well I dont have a USB key so the only thing I have access to is a Floppy drive. I put in the new definitions for ixtreme 1.2 and followed the tutorial that sosoit provided but when I click "Do It" it says "Failed to Prepare Destination". Any ideas?

If your getting the error shown in the image, it's not actually a iPrep bug, but one introduced my M$ into the OS by a recent update.

It mainly affects PC's that dont have a floppy drive.
Solution: Go into device manager and disable the Floppy Drive that's shown.

I disabled the floppy in device manager and got rid of the error, thanks for the tip. I still can't flash though. I have an ASUS M2N32-SLI DELUXE motherboard with the NVIDIA nForce 590 sli chipset. When listing my sata controllers in iPrep it has 3 different entries for NVIDIA nForce SATA Controller, I've tried all three with no luck. Any suggestions?

You need to get a VIA SATA PCI card, your nForce SATA just is not one of those supported by MTKFlash

Oh, that sucks. I could flash fine on my old pc. So noone has ever got this working with nforce 590? I don't want to have to buy an SATA card when I have 8 SATA ports on board.

I have already created and use my own patched version of MTK flash for use with my newlink 2 port SATA controller card.

I have been inserting my own xbox key into the new firmwares using firmware toolbox V3.1B-Repack, then using a floppy and DOS mtkflash commands to flash.

Would i still be ok using this method with the latest ixtrem12?

yes it would work,

but note that at this point I would favor samtool to transfer the key (vs fwtoolbox) as it preserves the position of the key in the FW (see MS25/28 Flashing/Updating Tutorial . Not sure if it make or will make a difference in the future ?? but you do not lose anything and it is just as easy to do.

I was thinking that, possibility of compatibilty going out the window as new releases came on the scene.

I have already done it using toolbox and it's working fine.

Do you think/mean that the stealth in the new firmwares could be compromised using the old toolbox method to tranfer the key?

Cheers buddy!

we are a bit off topic, sorry Klutsh

Dont know, but considering how easy/versatile they made samtool (thks caster and all involved) I do not feel there is much value in not getting that covered.
IT is now even easier than FWtoolbox for a spoof solution.

xtract FW, put orig.bin in directory, hit Make FW (in windows) and get you hacked fw as iX12.bin
nothing to lose.

as for potential detection???, no one knows the next angle our friend at MS will use.
note that a couple of months ago no one knew that stealth had any value either, why take the chance. just IMHO.

Only problem I encountered it wasn't able to prepare my usb key. Probably because I use windows vista?

Floppy worked great and I will use this program now for flashing smile.gif

Thanks guys

PS: Will you also create this for the new hitachi and benq firmwares coming in the near future?

You can also now use your previously created spoofed and hacked firmware. Samtool v0.7 will detect samsung firmware spoofed with hitachi version strings, and copy the key properly. This allows thoes who no longer have an orig.bin but either, a ) still have their old hacked.bin from a previous Xtreme version, or b ) have hacked firmware on their drive, to create a new hacked firmware.

Caster.

So I have this Abit Is7 Mobo with a intel sata card, I guess since thats what iPrep tells me, anyways I just make the bootable usb, start my computer up with it, turn on my 360, with videocable plugged in, and write the two commands in the readme?

Seems to easy :/
