I Have Probe 3, can i extract key or not yet? Options

I recently bought the 'Xecuter CK3 Probe V3' thinking that's all i needed for extracting my key from my LiteOn
(cuz on some tutorial pictures, i only saw that) but it seems i need another item to be able to extract the key fully and transfer to PC.

The guy i bought it from is also selling "X360 USB Pro special jungle edition"

so question is, if I have;
X360 USB Pro special jungle edition
&
Xecuter CK3 Probe V3

Can I extract my LiteOn key and not need anything else?
(i have the PLDS DG-16D2S 83850c v1, since i updated my dashboard to the latest)

Just saw bunch of tutorials online for Liteon drive flashing

Some say i need CK3 Pro/Lite + Probe 3 + USB Pro
Some say only CK3 Pro/Lite + Probe 3

so now im confused what i need to buy... can anyone tell me from this list found @ this site...

I already have the probe 3... (i have a VIA sata card in my comp) so what else do i need?
whats the cheapest solution i got to purchase?

Did your probe come with a long dvd power cable and a button? If so you should be set at this point. You can use your xbox 360 to power the drive while extracting the key and flashing etc. Follow the jungleflasher tutorial for your drive.

Hotshotz, I'll try to explain it to you as best as I can.

The reason that some say that you need a CK3 lite/ pro, is because using an external power source to power the drive, is the only way to power the drive, without the console being able to register that it has been booted up without a dvd drive.

The Ck3i/ Lite or Pro are all units which are used to power the dvd drive from an external power source. That means that when you are using the Ck3 device, you also need a power source. This can be your computers internal power supply, or you can buy an external power supply to connect to the CK3.


Now, some people say that it is sufficient to just use the xbox 360 console itself when you are powering the dvd drive, while you are flashing Custom firmware to it.
However. Some people say that when you do this, the console itself registeres that it is being powered on, without the dvd drive connected to the sata port on the xbox 360. The console can then send this information to Microsoft the next time you connect to live and the console can then be banned from xbox live at a later time.
But I have read a lot of different claims, where some people says this isn't true and others claim it is. So take from this what you want.

But I would say, if playing on xbox live is important to you, then go for the Ck3.


As for the X360USB pro. This is used only for connecting the dvd drive from its sata plug to your computer. The X360usb pro communicates with you computer through usb cable and passes the signal on to the dvd drives sata connection.
The VIA 6421 Pci card, supports some of the xbox 360 dvd drive models, but not all.
The X360usb pro, supports all drive models. So if you choose the x360usb pro you can't go wrong.


Now for the Probe 3. This is ONLY needed if you have an old version (Phat xbox 360) Liteon drive. So if you have a hitatchi, samsung or any of the other (including slim drives) you DO NOT need the Probe 3.
The probe 3 is used to grab the key from the old Liteon drives and it can be used, whether you are using the CK3, or if you are using your xbox 360 console for powering the drive.
But again, for "safest" possible way to play on xbox live, I would recommend that you use an external power source, instead uf the xbox 360 console as power source.

Wow! thanks so much both of you... I was very close to buying a CK Mini/Lite just cuz every tutorial online show the probe 3 along with CK Pro or Lite… but it makes sense in my case to use only the probe3…
My situation I think makes it easy for me to use only probe3, cuz I have a Phat Liteon updated to latest dashboard & I am banned from Xbox Live back when I was on iX1.6 FW
I spent like hours watching youtube/guides/tutorials and figuring out where to buy the device from…. Whew glad I wasn't too hasty on that decision
I will give that a try tonight… Had I known that the 'manual' ejecting the 83850c drive doesn't work anymore because new dashaboard update .. I would have gotten the key 'before' updating.. Unfortunately I didn't read the JungleFlasher guide properly.. its got SO much information.. (can be bad sometimes ><)

Ok awesome it worked, thanks once again you two.

I followed this guys video on youtube

took nearly a minute.. and it was done.

Using only the Probe 3 ($15, probe w/ wires), VIA sata card and the 360 to power the drive
Flashed my LiteOn 83850 v1 which was updated with the latest dashboard 14699 something to stock
