i use to frequint the scene alot back in the xbox years. sorta loss intreast after a good while. but now im wondering about the ps3

i would love the ps3 to be hacked, but not for games but to enable a better media system then it is already.

that beeing said has there been any way to get .mkv playing on it yet (prefibly h264) and sence h264 mp4 dont play nor the same in an avi contaner, the same question goes for them also.

thanks,
beener

Unsolo and other ps2dev folks are trying hard to bring a strong solution for h264 coded movies playback. It will certainly run on lastest fw, out of the box, without the need of any mod or hack. Just a matter of time. PS3 won't be hacked and it won't be a problem at all for movie playback purpose.

hey,

I just wan't to apologize for my first post, and to some of the comments " If i was able to help I would, but I don't even have a ps3". and I can't even program a bit

I just had this post to ask if there where people working on some sort of hack, didn't want to set up any people with this.

When I startet this treath I was only 16 and wasn't so aware of any technical stuf and with consoles beïng hacked faster and faster ( I thought tongue.gif) I just wanted to ask

other than a RSX Hack to get 3d acceleration in Linux, it is just not logical to hack the PS3, I mean Blu Ray burners are still up there in price, blank media is $50 a pop, and the ISOs themselves are 25GB+ I mean seriously, would you want to download that over a torrent?

PS3 is the most versatile system out there, with lots of bells and whistles without hacks, I like it the way it is

If you are interested in homebrew and in case you didn't notice :

(Some hints about BD-J homebrew, an official feature on Game OS side)

when i was getting my wii modded last year by a professional, he said that he can mod ps3 also. i believe him but now i research and there is no such mod for it. was he lying? he said it can run homebrew software, therefore it should be able to run backups on bluray or hd, right?

even though the games are in bluray, it doesn't mean they're all 25gb. i assume most game will fit on a dvd9 because they have xbox 360 versions of most games that are on dvd9.

Tough to say; "mod" is a fairly loose term, and according to several people, PS3 is actively pirated in parts of China.

why download with torrents that's the slowest way I know of. but I do understand it isn't that logical but one day in the future it will be wink.gif if you know what I mean. I don't own one so I don't know but if the prices would drop for a blank media to like the price of a dvd now ( not that it is like goïng to be next week ) it would be intresting for people who wan't to burn movies on and then just play them on there ps3.
or am I mistaking??

Erm, torrents always max my connection, so IDK where your getting your information about 'slowest way' to dl...

I would love to see the ps3 hacked. I wouldn't be burning any games, but the ability to load a few on the HDD would be great IMO. As for the size, well, most of the games out now don't fully utilize the bluray space anyway, so why worry about the ISO sizes? Multi plat games will most always be <8GB anyway...

Even if that never happens, I would be very happy if we could get full hardware access VIA linux. Then I could possibly run a ps2 emulator on my non-bc ps3 (I own a bunch of ps2 games). It would be nice to have a replacement for my xbox1 for emulation, the n64 games are still a bit shakey on the xbox1...

Home down speed is around 1.5 megabytes (not bits)/second. Always max out the connection on my trackers, unless its a very old release...
As I said though, i'm more interested in the homebrew, total access through linux, get a replacement for my xbox1 biggrin.gif

I wonder if their method would also allow running unsigned code.

I cry each night that goes by and I know the Linux people are happy being able to install it without any hacking and the other people are busy trying to stay one step ahead of Microsoft.

We need all hackers to get on the PS3!

Hacking is different to becoming a game thief. I'd like to see the PS3 hacked and allow multiregion bluray, dvd and MKV support.

Custom Firmware ftw!
