OK, recently our cable company decided to be dick heads and cut like 20 of our channels. We were already paying like $30 for 100 channels, and now we are still down $30 a month, but with like 80 some channels. Our cable company has been crappy this past year ever since they bought out this other company. Oh and for the 20 some channels they cut, they are charging like $15 more a month for them which is bullshit. Anyway my question is, is there anyway to hack my connection to get these channels back? I wanna try to keep it as legal as possible, and not be taken to court. If doing things illegaly is the only way i dont wanna risk it, so if there is any legal way lemme know. Thanks

This may make you feel better, I'm paying $50.00 a month for about 90 channels, and that's with no major broadcasters, such as HBO, Starz, etc..

Unfortunately there's not much competition for local Cable Companies, therefore they charge what they want, and the consumer suffers. Cable subscription rates are ridiculously high, especially for channel packages that also show commercials.

Legal ways of getting free cable? I can't give a bigger no. But here's a suggestion.

Call your cable company and tell them your switching to satellite. This usually prompts them to offer you a deal to lower your rates for maybe 6 months to a year, depending on how bad they want to keep you as a customer.

If they don't offer you a deal, then tell them you changed your mind, and you want to think your decision over.

Or just switch to satellite, and screw them. Hopefully others will do the same, then they'll realize their rate policy is crap.

I would never switch to satellite. Though I have never tried satellite, I cant comment on its service or benefits.

One reason I prefer the local Cable company, is because of jobs. I will support any service that provides tangible jobs a person can get up and goto everyday, even if I have to pay a tad more.

Cable rates are outta this world, which sometimes gets me a bit aggravated. Especially when I'm watching a cable channel thats part of my subscription package, and a commercial comes on!

So what can ya do. Maybe we'll see new services come along down the line that will provide some real competition to drive down prices.

54 bucks here for 72 channels. (Actually I think some of those 72 are missing. I'd guess 50-60ish)

BUT, the 3 apartments in the complex I live in split Cable and the Cable Internet. (Legal according to the companies rules) So it works out to 35 a month for me for however many stations and a decent Internet.

how do you split cable internet, you need a modem with an independent MAC address to get access.

Unless your all networked.

Free cable means no broadband. And like I said, I needs me broadband.

When your used to broadband, and go back to dial-up, its like switching from toilet-paper to sand-paper (very painful)!

We are indeed networked. In the long run it's cheaper then springing for cable individually.
