QUOTE
This was Tyrone Spellman's explanation to police: He "snapped" after he thought his daughter had broken a $600 Xbox game console.

Alayiah Turman was only 17 months old, born March 29, 2005. Spellman beat her to death, prosecutors say.

In an alleged confession read at his preliminary hearing yesterday, Spellman, 25, said he was playing one of Tom Clancy's "Ghost Recon" games - a violent combat epic - in a front bedroom of his family's Brewerytown home that Thursday morning, Sept. 7. He had taken Alayiah into the room so her mother, Mia Turman, could rest.

"She pulled the cord and the whole game console fell over," Spellman said in his statement, read by Homicide Detective John Cummings. "I thought it was broken. I popped her in the face. I picked her up and tossed her in a chair."

Later that day - at 12:37 p.m. - Alayiah was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital.
I don't know how true this is but it is pretty disturbing. sad.gif

It's terrible that the xbox360 and Ghost Recon are even mentioned in this. Obviosly niether of those items had anything to do with what happened. This is case of terrible abuse that resulted the childs death. The man was clearly violent and anything could have set him off. I hope he gets found guilty of murder.

Well with a guy like that it sounds like the now that it's over with the little girl is better off. That is one of the most terrible things I've heard. What parent wouldn't gladly GIVE their xbox 360 just so their child could take one more breath? This is beyond me.

Damn. I live like 30 min away from that. Also, I would expect that from that type of area. Its very low class where theres trash all over the place, house almost condemned, but they have a kick ass home theater(that cost more than the house itself).

Lastly, (and a bit off topic)Rocky 1 was filmed about 5-10 min away from Brewerytown.

What a f**king asshole! I don't believe in the death penalty though, but he surely should be locked up for a long time!

Seriously, there should be a "kid's license" in order to get a kid. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to have them.

That is terrible. I heard of something similar a couple of years back were a "man" shook his daughter to death for getting in the way of him and his Gamecube.

Some people are seriously messed up.

This is a terrible incident and no mother should ever have to deal with losing their child. As for the father, I hope the next 22.5 years of his life are as miserable as a cell mate can make them. (I do realize that this is an old thread but I am a little fired up reading it for the first time).

The thing is, it sounds like the guy would have gone off if the girl had spilled milk on his favorite chair, or some other petty insignificant thing.
