Hi all.

first post in these forums.
but a long time reader.......

upto now i been very happy swimming along.
got me Enigma chip many moons ago.
and shes been good for about 6 xbox now.

basically as lots of people do.
install chip
install Evox desktop
flash onboard TSOP
remove chip.

so last week get another xbox.
and it will not take the enigma at all.
im reading on some sites that the new bios revisoins will not work with bios "add on mods" and require full chip.

got an x-cuter chip
install a treat...
BUT will not allow me to flash the onboard.
im reading some where (post on this forum)
that these new chips take a memory slot reseved for the TSOP
so turning off the chip when the xbox is live
will not make the onboard accessable.
(summit to that effect)
(am i still making any sence)

so what me needs to know......

what chip will work with the latest rev of retial bios ?
and can be used to flash the onboard TSOP.
they are my only two requirements.

i have read all the arguments in favour of flashing the TSOP
and not.......
so theres no need to cover all that ground.

Cheers
Max.....

Xobx (Evox 2.4/desktop)
120 Gb 5400 Maxtor.

i think any of the first-gen chips other than enigmah should work. xtender, xios, pretty much any homebrew. as far as i know, then only chips that won't let you flash the onboard bios on the new xboxes are enigmah, x-ecuter, and pc-bioxx. you may want to get someone else to confirm this though, as i've never dealt with a newer xbox.

i have been known to fry the odd consel once in a while.

there was the first gen of psx
which had diff length screws.
not paying any attention
i put a long screw in the wrong place.
and it pressed down on the corner of what i think was a vid mem chip
and actualy made the chip flip upwards
half the pins where broken.

there was the awful mess i made of a ps2 once.
but them i was mashed at the time.
i recall same ps2 got one of the ribbon cables screwed
when i wasnt paying attention to soilder iron.

so far had no accedents with any xbox.
sure its noly a matter of time.

tis ok
i got mast guru elecky bloke for a mate
him has resurected plenty of my errors....

after the 3rd time of saying
"fix that consel and its yours"
i should know better.

MM.
