All computer LCD's are pretty much HD Ready(keep in mind I said LCD's not LCD-TV's or the LCD's back in the tv section at your local best buy). They will display the resolutions of the HD.
You know when a monitor supports lets say 1024x768 in other words that just means it supports 720p.
With a VGA cable you have to set the resolution and not the actual HD output. I use 2 19 inch lcd's and use 1024x768 rather then the recommended 1280x1024. I also have a 3007 which is a 30 inch dell lcd for the computer which does 2560x1600

Using a mouse and keyboard is unfair. Stick to PC use. Only a select few games support keyboard and thats for text use only. The mouse would need drivers of course.
