Ok, version 1.6b xbox, installed a duo gs x2 white soldering all 100%. Booted the box on bank 1and obtained the flashbios screen. Cool, so I rebooted the box on bank 0 and just got a flashing led on the chip and an orange light around the eject. Bummer i thought. So I flashed the bank 1 with a 512k M8+16 bios as I had read this was a correct bios to flash. Oppps guess I was wrong, now bank 1 just frags, and bank 0 still nothing but an orange light. Xbox works fine if booted from the eject button. So is there anyway i can boot the xbox using eject then boot the chip so i can reflash the bios, or is it a case of hotswapping the chip? If hotswap is the way then can I use a blue duo?.Or is there a way to get the damn cromwell to read of bank 0? uhh.gif

is there an error code on the screen after you flashed bank1? if not, try to reboot a couple of times.

Nope, no error codes it just powers up, then down a few times then into frag. The cromwell never worked at all. I have ordered a blue duo hoping to hotswap the white one.

Cromwell should work fine (Bank 0) on any version 1.6. It is bank 1 (Flashbios) that can have the problems. make sure the chip is not a clone as bank 0 should have worked if it has never previously been flashed.
If both banks are shot then you will need to hotswap to flash this now

Update, managed to hotswp the chip, all worked ok or so i thought. Firstly pressing eject wont boot to ms dash, just gives service required screen. Normal boot goes to evox-sweet BUT the drive freezes after a few minutes, whether its a game/dvd or slayers disc. WTF has happened??

Did you lock the hard drive? If the hard drive is unlocked, M$ dash will not load.
