Best Buy Xbox 360 Packing List Confirms Shortage

Best Buy had initially decided to offer their “RewardZone” members the ability to pre-order an Xbox 360, but a week before the letters and emails were to be sent out the BB powers that be thought better of it. Instead they decided to handle it like the PSP launch, handing out tickets at the door to line-waiters.

As for the actual stock expected I have confirmation that at least one Best Buy’s packing list shows a grand total of 60 Xbox 360s heading their way. This is slightly higher than the 20 to 50 originally expected, but still easily fits into the “way too little” range. While their initial shipment of 360s will be quite small they are expecting a much larger shipment later that week. (And knowing shipping, that means no one knows when it will arrive.)

The amount coming in that shipment has not yet been determined. Hmmmm, I wonder if this is Msoft’s way of controlling stock and creating buzz or just a genuine issue with supply and demand. I’m thinking more of the second.

I preordered mine in June and i will be pissed if i dont get first shipment. the place where i preordered sais they had about 160 already(pre) and have no idea how many they will receive on day 1 but cant tell me where in line i am quite yet.

I went to gamestop yesterday and paid off my xbox, and was worried, i asked, am i guaranteed mine at launch, he said "oh yeah, anyone that preorded is getting theirs" and he pulled out like 50 or more tickets of preorders, and this is a very small town, so that makes me wonder how much of a shortage there really was, to fill every preorder is different then what some of you were saying 3-4 weeks ago. They said they should get 15 or so over what their preorder was.

Here, in a town of ~80,000 the local EB is getting in 64 units (buddy of mine is the manager there) - they have as of 2 weeks ago over 80 people on the pre-order list. They have no idea when the second shipment is coming, also he stated that the MS rep told him that they are only getting the full units, not the core systems at all.

Wallmart in the same parking lot does have a 360 is coming poster and a countdown LED display, but i went there a week ago and theres no kiosk or anything else. I also know that blockbuster, and play are doing pre-orders. Nothing at the big box store at future shop, however the EB guy says the MS rep told him Future Shop is only getting 10 units.

So the people on the bottom of that list, its looking bleak for them.

I pre-ordered mine back on may 19th, as it stands I'm @ #10 on the list.

Damn thing is 569.99 cdn +14% tax.. gouge-o-rama, and then I gotta pick up a live gold subscription, a vga cable, and a few games.

btw, EB has Kameo listed at 49.99 but most other games are 64.99 - 79.99. Kameo is the cheapest.

Like i said a console is not easy to produce like a dvd game a bunch of people said in the forums preordering is dumb that their just going to walk by the people who preorderd and pick one up and laugh. Their going to feel preorders first at these companys main ware house then they will send what they have left to the stores. People kept saying its going to be like halo 2 i can just walk in and pick up one up. I knew this would happen consoles are always short at launch and the world wide launch makes things even worse.

British Columbia - . 7% provincial sales tax / 7% goverment sales tax.

But we have nice roads, nice hospitals and nice schools because of it.. took advantage of that the other day when i took the wife to emergency for strep throat and she saw 2 doctors, had chest xrays done and a prescription.

Total hospital bill $0

Didn't even have to pay for parking.

Thats why the sales tax is high, when you're sick you get the help you need without having to go bankrupt.

Being a canadian has its privaleges.

The manager at the EM store I have my pre ordered placed told me that they have close to 300 pre orders and they are only getting roughly 70 systems.

The actual number is up in the air untill he gets his numbers tomorrow...I'm expecting a call in the next few days...
