I just picked up a LiteON iHAS524 and went through a pretty straight forward tutorial I am able to read the firmware on the DVD drive but when I try to write I received a write error.

I have seen problems with writing to IHAS drives on direct SATA motherboard connection. Think you have to change some BIOS settings. Easiest is to just get a SATA to USB cable and you will have no issue.

Appears to have been my Sata configuration I ended up using the via and it worked.
