apply regular white elmers glue on the back of the glue and let it harden. it will give the jewel a nice milky, frosty look.

They sell sprays that can do this for glass. Maybe that would work...

Elmers glue, hot glue, sanding only w/ no polish, thinner, fingernail polish remover, acetone... many ways.

i used that isopropol alcohol shit, or whatever its called....i was actually using it to remove the green paint, but it wound up giving my jewel the frosted, cloudy look.....i hated it at first but now i think its pretty sweet....

I just sanded mine. I like the "frosted" look better than "clear", because I don't want people seeing the shielding underneath it, and I don't feel like painting or putting construction paper under it! Plus, it sort of breaks up the location of the LED's making it look like the whole thing is glowing, and not just 4 dots!
