Xbox LIVE Exit Polls: Obama Leads by 20pct
Posted by XanTium | November 4 17:48 EST | News Category: (default)

From the press release:
[QUOTE]
In less than 24 hours, the world will find out who is poised to lead the United States as its next President. Over the Halloween weekend, thousands were able to cast an early, unofficial "vote" on Xbox LIVE. The tallied results provide a unique exit poll, emphasizing where the youth votes could fall this historic day.

Xbox LIVE weekend of 10/31
Obama/Biden: 53%
McCain/Palin: 33%
Undecided/Other: 14%

CNN weekend of 10/31
Obama/Biden: 53%
McCain/Palin: 46%
Undecided/Other: 1%

These results follow a series of election-related polls hosted on Xbox LIVE. See below for more details, including another CNN poll captured during the same timeframe. While the Xbox undecideds still remain markedly higher than those in the CNN poll, the majority of the undecided voters broke for Obama between the two polls, with his numbers increasing 10 percentage points between Sept. 19 and Oct. 31.

Also included below is a snapshot from the Xbox LIVE issues poll, conducted the weekend of Oct. 17. It indicates while the economy/jobs are at the top of gamers' minds, this is far more than a one-issue race.

Xbox LIVE Issues Poll - weekend of 10/22
Jobs and Economy: 35%
Environment: 19%
Foreign Policy: 18%
Healthcare: 14%
Education: 14%

Xbox Live - weekend of 9/19
Obama/Biden: 43%
McCain/Palin: 31%
Undecided/Other: 26%

CNN - weekend of 9/19
Obama/Biden: 51%
McCain/Palin: 47%
Undecided/Other: 2%

To date, nearly a million pieces of election-specific content have been downloaded over Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE (convention speeches, gamerpics, Rock the Vote videos etc.), reinforcing how large the footprint of this topic is in the Xbox LIVE community, which at 14 million-members strong is nearly double the size of New York City. Nearly 80,000 voter registration forms were also downloaded as part of the historic partnership between Xbox 360 and Rock the Vote in an effort to help register young Americans.

Wow, America will become a socialist nation if Obama wins?
Really?

I didn't know that.

When I was there and had to pay over $300 to get treatment for conjunctivitis (pinkeye) and the same treatment cost me $24 in Australia, I never really saw the US on the brink of tipping over to a socialist nation, but I could be wrong I guess.

Please socialism? Alaska gives away profits for oil companies raping their lands, isn't that socialism? The US is essentially subsidizing foreign countries with universal health care. Basically if we get universal health care here you will be paying for it there also. This isn't 100% true but close. They are your views but please educate yourselves.

Check out http://frontline.org for info onto health care in the United States compared to the world.

I'm sure you're in a place mentally where you're really not going to listen to anything the "other side" has to say, but I have to tell you that most of the dirt they try to sling while campaigning is not actually true. They intentionally tell you these lies in order to scare you and win your vote. Until someone has been proven to be untrustworthy, you have to take them at their word, and Obama has never once said he was a Socialist who was going to be spreading Socialism. He simply stated that he was rolling back the tax cuts that George Bush implemented. If you think that is Socialism, then Bill Clinton would also have to be called a Socialist - something that I have never heard. The McCain camp used the Socialist line to get votes, but now that it's over, people are going to have to stop throwing that around. It simply isn't true.

I'm sorry your candidate of choice lost and I understand your anger, but you have to come to grips with the fact that both candidates are Americans who love this country. As dirty as the campaigning gets before the election, we have to realize that it's all over now and wee can go back to being civilized. Seriously, it blows my mind how most people get riled up in this country about the candidate they're not supporting - to the point where they actually consider that candidate to be an evil person with an agenda to destroy the country. I guess it's good that so many people get involved in the politics. uhh.gif

To answer your question, yes - people do understand Socialism and were wise enough to realize that it was propaganda and just wasn't true.

What I found to be ironic was the fact that when Obama talked about raising the taxes for people making $200,000, the only people complaining about it was a bunch of "regular Joes" who probably made less than $60,000. McCain and Palin were really trying to make it seem like they were working for the little guy and these people ate it up - despite the fact that most of those McCain supporters would benefit from Obama's tax plans. Where were the rich people who should have been complaining about higher taxes and why did all these regular people suddenly care so much about rich people paying less taxes?

I'm really sorry that our education system has failed you so miserably. Have no fear - Obama will not be vacationing, but will be actively making this country better and the school systems will be improving soon.

As an American and someone who has served this country in time of war, I have to say that I just have so much hope for what our country can become. This is a remarkable day in our country's history. smile.gif

Wow guys I didnt say the country was going to be socialist. The words of Obama himself point to socialism "spread the wealth" which is all I was saying in the post.

There are too many people in this country that wouldn't let that happen.

And im not pissed off he won or unable to listen to other sides guys, you got me wrong. I think democracy worked and republicans pissed away what they were HANDED 8 years ago. They won tons of seats then and did the wrong things in part which is why they just had their asses handed to them.

Paybacks are a bitch.

Hope he and his admin do the right things. If he does than he was the right choice.

*MaulerX*

Most of the electorate that voted Obama in has no earthly idea of his policies and I venture to say wouldn't be able to remotely describe socialism if they had to. Most people think you have the right to vote. Most people think that our style of government is democratic. Neither is true but the *smart* people that just voted him in, would think so.

I think if you are honest with yourself you would have to admit that this guy is in the position he is because of his image and almost nothing else. Same as Sarah Palin. If there are lots of other reasons, enlighten me please.

stupid guy out.....

I realize the electoral vote swung way in Obama's favor and thats what you mean. 349 to 158 is huge.
