Hey Guys,
Hope someone can help me. My xbox was modchipped by a friend years ago so l'm unsure what modchip or bios is currently installed. I know it is a V1 as l bought it at launch. Anyway l can check? Do l have to or would the bios be compatible anyway?

The reason l want to know is that l've built a VGA cable and would like start playing the games again on my computer screen. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as in the best BIOS e.c.t..

Cheers.

You need to know which modchip your friend installed (or at least how big it is) before you can work out which BIOS to use. BiosChecker gives you details of the modchip and the current BIOS - run that and see what it says.

In the meantime, try X2.5035 BFM (512k) and iND-BIOS.5003 (256k) from Frostys_BFM_VGA_BIOS_Pack.rar to test your VGA. Once you have it working and you know what size chip you have, you can flash the non-BFM version to your chip. (This is important - DON'T flash the BFM version because it will brick your Xbox.)

Alternatively, if you want to switch between VGA and standard TV you could just continue to launch the BFM VGA BIOS every time you want to use VGA.

Thanks for the reply.

I've got the Bios Checker (v5) so l'll give it a go tonight. I'm pretty sure its an xecuter, just unsure if its V1 or V2, l guess l'll find out when l give the BIOS checker a run!

I've also just got the Frostys BFM rar, so l'll give that a go.

Again, thanks for your help, l'll post what l find out later tonight.

WOOT!

Thanks man.

Used the X2.5035 BFM and it works a treat! Does that mean l can go ahead an flash the non-bfm X2.5035 bios?

I can't get the BIOS checker to boot at the moment. I already had v4 on there, and that couldn't tell me much.

EvoX does tell me however that l have a EvoX M8 FC 06...

Actually got the BIOS Checker to work.

It lists:

CHIP TYPE -> LPC based (SST 49LF020)

512k BIOSES:
1.Bios > Unknown
MD5 Hash = 11B2EB01215A66A98081724A4C0FE93E
2.Bios > Unknown
MD5 Hash = 11B2EB01215A66A98081724A4C0FE93E

256k BIOSES:
1.Bios > Unknown
MD5 Hash = 890C69A33B2D73284DAE8D9F561C3B77
2.Bios > Unknown
MD5 Hash = 890C69A33B2D73284DAE8D9F561C3B77
3.Bios > Unknown
MD5 Hash = 890C69A33B2D73284DAE8D9F561C3B77
4.Bios > Unknown
MD5 Hash = 890C69A33B2D73284DAE8D9F561C3B77

Now off to do some searching on what size the SST 49LF020 is...
