QUOTE(Plagued @ Nov 2 2005, 01:54 AM) Right ... you have a NES and a SNES, well go and do some research and see how long they have been out, I think you'll find it's quite a lot longer than 5 years .. try over 15. Now look at the price they were released at ... I think you'll find it's the equivelent to double the cost of the 360. While you're at it .. check the megadrive, PS1, PS2 and xbox release prices. I think you'll find that the 360 is one of the cheapest consoles ever to have been released. Now In relation to your 'it lasts a life time' .. I'm going to go and spend $1 on a large stick ... Now that's value for money! Adjusted for inflation, the NES probably cost more then the 360, but I doubt the SNES did. But, the costs associated with developing and producing technology have gone down over the years. A top of the line PC is much less expensive today than say the 386 was (adjusted for inflation). And back in the early 80s, cellular phones would sell for about $1k. They are much better now and have mp3 players, cameras, etc, and they cost a fraction of the price even before the carrier substities. So just saying that a previous console cost alot to excuse the price of the xbox 360 is a cop out. Technology is getting cheeper and ther is no reason for such a price hike even if it is more advanced than a previous console.

MS Took a Loss on the XBOX, They had 500 million alone just for marketing. Then they had to pay off a company whos name they stole (Xbox Technology) They were going to lose money and knew it.
WHY? they wanted in the industry, and had deep pockets to do so.
Now that they got in, its time to make some of that money back.
They plan to make money this time around.
Yes, MS has a lot of money to spend, but if something is not going to be profitable, their not going to continue dishing out money, just to "make some of it back"

SirGuy, I make $20 an hour ... once certified I'll be in the ballpark of $60 an hour. Crestron and AMX rocks! Now those are cool expensive toys. Less then $15 .... are you working in a warehouse? The difference is I spent my money on a education instead of fancy toys upfront. Thats an investment. Anyways, it's not MS's fault that some gun trotting hillbilly didn't go to school. Here's a thought rather then buying unneeded toys and complaining take your money and go back to school part time. Then get a better job and enjoy the perks of an education. Best of luck, but seriously invest in yourself. This post has been edited by OC-NightHawk: Nov 2 2005, 05:01 AM

Dang dude... you need a better job... there are people in my company who didn't graduate high school that make more than that running a primary line... tell your manager at McDonalds you quit and go find a real job... and don't take your gun with you... Like someone else said... if you can't afford it or just wanna bitch about it... don't get one... you can sit home and clean your guns...

QUOTE(Cyclone268 @ Nov 1 2005, 04:07 PM) Uh.. this is pissin me off every1 is bitchin about it. Think about it... as consoles get better.. they get more expensive. Its either spend more money.. or not have nxt generation gaming for 5 years.. and the generation after this is gonna be even more expensive. Hope that made sense. Thanks Oliver Its not so much that they are getting better, as much as it is inflation. I cant remember, but I think it was penny arcade that compared prices of old consoles with todays inflation, and by comparison, older consoles were actually more expensive than todays new systems.

Old tech is getting cheaper. but new and advanced stuff is just as expensive. Although the prices don't stay that high for long now. How much do you expect to pay for a technology that isn't out yet. That is the very first wave of the tech? How much did many people pay for a cd-burner/dvd burner when they came out. I remember paying $250 for a 4x cdburner. and almost $2 per blank. Disc. (although I used to buy mitsui gold discs) I still have a few unused laying aorund. QUOTE(Altima NEO @ Nov 2 2005, 06:09 AM) Its not so much that they are getting better, as much as it is inflation. If you believe the systems aren't getting better. Why don't you go back to your atari, or nes than. and tell me how equal they are to todays games.

You don't need the wifi gaming adapter, you don't need the extra controller, so don't complain, I've easily spent over $2000 on my xbox's and as said earlier, older systems were the same if not more than the xbox 360, don't complain about the price, I'm sorry if you can't really afford it......then cut back, don't buy the premium, save the $100, don't buy the wifi, save $100, now you're at $300, don't buy an additional controller, use the wired one you get, save the $50 or $60 it is, buy the game and don't complain.
$360 and as for tax I was only charged $16 for my tax on my premium package, $50 seems way too high
16 + 5 + 3 ish + 3 ish = <$30 not $50

Wow, the point he was making just went right over your head! He was talking about prices, and how the fact that consoles are getting better has very little to do with the price hike compared to Inflation. EDIT: as for his tax count, on the $400 xbox 360 I would pay about $34.80 in taxes, and this of course changes depending on where you live. Go out and buy a long cat 5 cable. you will have better stability with that anyways. I preper wired over wireless any day. Unless it is my laptop that I just surf the net with.

Ya, I know taxes are different, it's actually 4.5% for me I just guesstimated about 5%, but you don't have to spend all the money at once, wait for the wifi, I'm not paying for that right away, I just need a controller for me, plus $100 for the adapter is way too much in my opinion, I can buy a wireless g router and hack it with linux for $40, why should i pay more than double for the adapter?
