Hello all,

I just purchased a new Samsung SD 616 for my XBox because I could not play a single game without getting a disk error. So I was thinking of upgrading other parts of my XBox which leads to my question. On Llama.Com they are selling an ATA166 cable for the XBox. I was wondering if the performance upgrade is worth it or should I just stick to the original cable?

Thanks

Irvin

i wouldnt buy one sicne it wont make very much in any difference, ATA speeds are limited by both the speed of the controller (ATA100 in the xbox) and the speed of the slowest device on the IDE channel (ATA33 for the dDVD drive in the xbox)

you may or may not see a marginal increase in speed simply becuase the ATA166 cable will be more reliable and not drop as many signals, but its not worth buying one IMO

of course if you happen to have an extra one laying around it couldnt hurt

I picked up some at a computer show here. I really don't notice any difference. I saw a chart ,I think it was on Llama.com where they were able to actually chart an decrease in load times. Howevere you are talking milliseconds.Mine were cheap and it only takes a minute to install. Make your own decision. cool.gif
