As the topic suggests

i have recently aquired a 360 from a friend after my other 2 both rrod'd (unrepairable after being repaired 2 or 3 times each already). The only thing is this box has a NME V2 fitted, i dont want to go through the crap of having to patch my backups to work with the nme.

So to my original question. Can i flash Ixtreme LT onto the benq with the nme fitted or is it replace the drive time (of which i have a spare ones i could use).

Thanks in advance

Yes. Just remove that pos and toss it in the trash and flash your BenQ with LT.

thanks for the reply ranger

one question tho, is it necessary to remove the chip or can i leave it in place as due to the small size of the solder points i'm not all that confident with my soldering iron that its tip is fine enough to desolder it without causing damage to the board.

i suppose tho i could use a sharp knife and cut the wires where they attach to the board if im careful, what do you think

it turns out after stripping the xbox down to remove the nme v2, that it was never on the drive, looks like some cowboy had flashed the nme fw to the drive and fleeced the guy i bought the console from for the price of the chip and install

robbin' b'stard

its all good now tho cos flashed LT and works like a charm

The guy likely did him a favor by not installing it. Flashing the firmware works better than the chip anyway.

But whoever was paid to install it should have told him that he would do him a better one and flash the drive and hand him back the chip so he could try to get his money back for it.
