any number of things could have caused it, its MS, do you really think the error gives you more info than "theres a problem"

basically it could be physical damage on the motherboard (pretty much anywhere on the board)

blanked TSOP

corrupted TSOP

short circuit on the board

burned IC

burned trace (traces can burn from more than just soldering)

hmm, for an unmodded box id say thats probably all the possibilities, all you cna do if you dont want to send it in is open it up and poke around, pick up a modchip too, if it boots with the chip you elimitate a few choices up there

Might be a currupted TSOP. If you have a friend with a chip, ask him/her to lend it to you -- if the xbox boots normally with it, it's a corrupt TSOP.

Also, do you get a number in the top-right of the screen? If so, what is it?

Same thing happened with me, bro, EXACT same. You probably just played the life out of it. The fan might not be working efficiently enough anymore and it's overheating. Eventually you wont be able to boot at all. Consider getting it serviced with M$, or you can take it to your local shop and get it repaired and mod it while you're at it.
You don't have a lot of time left with your Xbox.. make sure you enjoy your last moments together... :'(
