I locked the HDD using XboxHDM but i didn't enter in a password when it asked, i left it blank. So, when i tried to unlock it, it of course asked for the password and I just pressed enter for nothing. But when i did this it just went down to the next line. And if you enter in the wrong password, it says unable to unloock. Is there any other way to unlock the HDD or do i have a 160 gig ($80) paperweight?

You can unlock via a modded xbox, but u need to use sum has a proper chip in.

I could be wrong, but I think xboxhdm puts a default password of XBOXSCENE on the harddrive. So try using that to unlock it.

yup...but it sets the MASTER password, not the regular one.

post from ldots way back:

"[...]These linux tools get the HDD password directly from the eeprom, meaning no password typing. When locking the tool also sets a Master Password ('XBOXSCENE') that will let you unlock the HDD without the eeprom or the HDD password.

I recommend using these tools instead of unlockx that has made quite a number of users pull their hair out by now..."

I tried using "XBOXSCENE" as the password, but it didn't unlock it. Any other suggestions? I really don't want a $80 paper weight!

Boot to dos tools then use atapwd and type xboxscene there. It should work. I have used a blank password before. This did it for me.

Edit: Think you have to unlock it and disable locking there because if you just unlock it relocks after you reboot. It has been a while but I remmber going through this too.

I'm not fimiliar w/dos tools or w/atapwd (the docs are all in german). Is there any guides you know of? Or can you point me in the right direction?
