Hey im new to this forum but i think slowly you will start to see me more because this place is great for xbox problems/mods and so on, my problem is that out of no where my power button stopped working. Now I have to plug the xbox in to turn it on and unplug it to turn it off, therefor the power button is probably jammed. I was wondering if anyone could possibly instruct me on how to get into my xbox and fix the problem because I am out of warranty period and xbox wants $80 to fix it.

Thanks Alot,
Chris

You need to cut the positive wire going to the power button, then put a momentary pushbutton between that positive and any ground. This shows the wire you need to cut:

Cutting that wire will remove the original button from the circuit.
Take the end connected to the motherboard, and run it to a new button.
Run a wire from the other contact on the button to any ground (under a screw).
Install the new button anywhere you want or wherever it looks good.

1 connect a new wire (to add length) to the end coming off the motherboard.
2 connect the other end of that wire to a momentary on pushbutton switch
3 connect a new wire to the other pole of the pushbutton
4 take the other end of that and clamp it under any screw

that should do it
hope thats clear

try to use something thats close to the size of the original yellow wires, but it just needs to connect, so any gauge wire will work.
