I usually FTP to my xbox through my laptop which is wireless. So I use a crossover cable and connect directly to the xbox. Today I hooked up my xbox to the linksys router to connect to our houses desktop computer. It has the DVD burner, my computer doesn't.
It ftp'd fine to the desktop, then I brought the xbox back to hook up to my computer and it would not work. The xbox said that the ip was "0.0.0.0 err X" Then I messed with all the internet settings, checked the xbox network settings and all the settings were fine. Then I decided to try hooking the crossover cable into an old D-link router, and then put a network cable from that to my laptop. Then it worked to ftp to my xbox, but the wireless internet wouldn't work. Grr So, I just shut down the computer and xbox and restarted both of them, hooked up the xbox directly to my laptop like normal just to see if it would work and it did. Now the internet works too like it is supposed to. I have the xboxs static ip set as 192.168.0.35 but the ip on my dashboard says it is 192.168.0.101 If anyone could tell me what went wrong it would be great. I don't really know what caused the xbox to not ftp correctly when no settings were changed. This post has been edited by mx416: Jan 7 2005, 08:25 PM |

right now it is plugged directly into my pc. I had it hooked up to a router, brought it back to pc and it didn't work. Then I hooked it up to a different router, then back to my pc and it worked.
