Ok, here's the deal. I have 2 of these guitars that both have the same issue. the "tilt" function is stuck in the "on" position. I found some info on this here ( http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...639774&st=0 ) But there is one problem, I can not use the back button to activate star power. I know that the button works, but being that the tilt sensor is stuck in the "full on" position, I cant use the button remapping mod.

What resistors (or whatever) must I remove or traces I can cut to disable the tilt feature so that I can use the button re-mapping mod.

ty all for any help or info on this!

That info they have on Disabling the X-plorer Accelerometer is all wrong, and the g-Select lines way wrong.

If ya want to disable the Accelerometer (U5) ya can put it to 'sleep' (pin 12 on U5) by grounding that pin. That turns the outputs of it off and then ya can force the X-axis high so it shouldn't activate SP. The problem could be the main IC on your board causing it though. You'll have to disable U5 and see how that goes first, then possibly remove it and try. You'd need a hot air rework setup for that, don't just rip it off the board and that will only cause a huge mess. Then ya can see if ya can get it to stop setting off SP by 'locking' the XYZ axis in the off position, set the X-axis high, Y and Z don't have to be messed with.

I'd remove R27 (or R31, depends on the board version) and jumper the side of it that goes to pin 12 of U5 to ground and put the thing in sleep mode first, see how that goes. Since there are a couple versions of the board I can't show ya exactly where it is and how I'd do it without seeing yours, but the Accelerometer is the same on both versions, just have to see which Resistor is connected to that line of pin 12 from the Accelerometer. I don't know why they went and redid the Resistor numbering and screwed that all up, but one one version you'd need to remove R27 while the other one you'd need to remove R31, just depends on which ya have there.

Ya can pretty much get all of that info from just looking at the datasheet for the thing. wink.gif The different board versions I know of from all the pics floating around the net and it's known that there were 2 versions of X-plorer guitar released, the ones with the 'faulty' whammy bars and then the new revision.

You're welcome, hopefully ya can get at least one of them going again. I had to replace the Accelerometer in my Gibson, thing just wouldn't set off SP at all anymore and I can imagine the reverse of that being just as irritating.

Right but looking at the datasheet, being able to read the datasheet, and translating the datasheet into something that your non-electronic inclined person can understand are all very different aspects. You sir can do all three therefor deserve the title guru smile.gif

Wow I just read that and I hope it makes seance b/c I'm too lazy at the moment to retype it tongue.gif
