My friends brother supposedly "found 2 xbox360s in the trash" Neither worked. ONe wouldn't read any disk that you put into it. I seem to have fixed that one by simply doing an update on it from a flash drive.

The second one gives this error upon startup.... Error fails then it says this code ...3151 351f b380 0402 c000 0001 From my googling it seems that someone either tried modding it and failed, or tried swapping the dvd drive in it, and also failed. The only solution suggestion that I found was to try the update from a flash drive but that doesn't even try to do that update. It also won't sync up with a controller but that may be because it's all messed up either way.

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on this. I haven't been in the "modding scene" since the original xbox.(which I still use as my media center).

Any help is appreciated.

( I also apologize if this is in the wrong section.)

hey

The first one that won't read discs - that's an easy fix if you know what to do. Replacement of the spindle motor or the laser.

The second one with the chain code error. That one has had a flashed drive. So it has semi illegal firmware added to it. The new games that Microsoft puts out, the updates on them - look for Modded Ware. If it detects them - then it boxes the drive.

Games like MW3 are sending alot of flashed console into errorville. If those people didn't update their firmware.

So you have to find someone who flashes drives. With that one, they have to flash it back to stock and maybe re-flash it once again with a newer version.

So I can simply reflash the dvd drive to factory specs and it will work? I read that swapping in an unmodded dvd drive will allow it to finish the update is there any truth to that?

The particular error code ending in c000 0001 says to call microsoft on their website.

to swap the drive it needs the same model and its drivekey its more complicated than that it depends which drive it is this probably happened due to a spoofed drive

the drive is already flashed, no need to do shit to it. just find the right update and finish the job from usb. in a few rare cases, the drive requires flashing again, but it is rare. if it crashes on teh next update, u know what to do.

How would I find the right update though? I have no clue as to what game did this or anything like that. I'm all ears. Like I stated I haven't been into this stuff in a while.

So just extract them to a fat32 flash drive and try updating the console. any particular order or just start randomly trying?

Ok well as of right now I've tried 4 different ones and neither even attempt to start. I know I'm making them right because they work on the other 360 I have. Those when I put in the flash drive and turn it on they ask if I want to do the update. This one does nothing. The light on the flash drive turns on but that's about it.

Does this tell you anything in particular?

Yes It does have HDMI. I also currently can not sync it with a controller. Is that normal for when they are getting this error?

Downloaded updatespy like suggested and tried all the updates that it had. None of them appeared to do anything or even attempt.

Ok well I have some more information on this. It appears to have a Samsung DVD driver in it and it is an HDMI console with what appears to be a non HDMI case. (they cut out a hole very poorly for the HDMI port). I'm assuming they "spoofed" this drive to work on this console and then did an update with a newer game. I'm wondering if there is any way to find out what drive was in this console originally and what is the quickest way of getting this working again?
