I have a large collection of Xbox original games... For safety, I want to make a backup of every game on another DVD-R or HDD in XISO.

I read this topic but it's quite old. Maybe there is something newer and better smile.gif

What are the best tools for making backup to XISO?

Makes it any difference if my console is set to PAL or NTSC?

What do you suggest for making XISO from copied files?

PAL or NTSC makes no difference that I am aware of.

DVD2Xbox will rip to an iso file if you configure it that way.

Alternatively, rip to folders then use Qwix on your PC to make the folders into an xiso.

My personal preference is to rip the game (mainly folders, but I have a couple that I ripped to iso) then FTP it to my redundant storage servers - the last thing I need is more DVD's cluttering up the house.

I would have thought the logical solution would just be to bung a larger HDD in your Xbox and simply copy the games to that. The original discs aren't touched again and effecively become your backup.

Obviously there are a few practicalities and maybe additional costs to be considered. But I don't know about anyone else but for me one of the main attractions of modding my Xboxes was to be able to play games direct from the HDD without needing the original disc at all.

Point is: what's the purpose of backing up games if you're not going to play them? And if you're going to play them surely it's far more convenient to have them on the Xbox HDD than on another disc or as some ISO on your PC.

Agree entirely, so long as you take a backup of your Xbox disk contents after you've ripped the games. It takes far longer to re-rip loads of Xbox games than it does to simply FTP them from your server backup when your Xbox hard drive fails. smile.gif

If I set DVD2Xbox to ISO mode, it makes a large image (6-7GB) which is in parts even if game has a 2-3GB or less.

So, probably I'll buy a larger HDD or upload backup somewhere.

I rip them from dvs to folders using dvd2xbox, then i ftp the folders to the server pc.
I have a box here full of xbox games that dont ever get used any more because the games are on the hard drive.

the only game that ever sees the light of day any more is splinter cell, but most of the time im just installing a mod chip now so i dont even use that 90% of the time.
