hy guys maybe someone can help me i have a strange problem

i chipped an 1.6 xbox with an aladdin chip. the first time it diddn't work properly, when i turned it on it would work for a couple of minutes and after that it started turning off and on automaticly (like some wires made a bad connection)

so, i removed the chip and started all over again with a new chip

this time it worked properly. tested and played it for 24hrs in a row and no problems whatsoever.

but then,

after aprox 3 weeks i was gaming in the morning no probs, i was playing gta:sa untill i had to go to work. saved my game, turned it off and left my house.
when i came home i wanted to continue gaming and suddenly it boots 3 times and starts flashing red/green!!!

now i now what this means (x-mas lights) from the xbox repair guide, but how can this happen? nothing was wrong! i diddn't even MOVE the xbox!

i checked the mainboard, no broken traces or tin splashes. (as far as i can see)
i removed the chip, diddn't help
i installed a new chip, still having x-mas lights...

does someone recognize this problem?
i'm all out of ideas, i'm thinking about ordering some repair parts, but i don't know what to order since i don't know what the problem is!

if someone can help... PLEASE!!!!

i really don't want to buy a new xbox 2 months before release of the x360...

I'm having the same problem. I don't have a 1.6, don't even remember which version I have (1.2 or sth), but I've been using my chipped Xbox (Xecuter2 Lite) for a loooong time now. Just went to my brother's room, turned it on: first it powers on, off, on, off, on, off and then starts to flash red/green.

I opened up the box and checked to see if everything is in place. It is, and all looks just how I left it when I installed the chip.

I have no clue as to what's causing this, but from what I can tell by Googling/searching so far, this problem will occur if I remove the chip as well.

If the problem occurs with the chip removed, then there is a ripped trace somewhere (probably the d0)

I just tried removing the chip, booting with the original harddisk works fine. Also booting with my new harddisk works fine. I resoldered the chip, and there it went again. Bad chip than perhaps?

Sounds like a loose LPC rebuild point to me.

hey guys, i have the same prob with my v1.0 sometimes, it's really weird i have a switch installed so it still works fine with the chip off.

all i do is unplug the xbox and leave it for 30 mins then it seems to be ok, has only happened to me twice before last night it did it a fair few times so i'm taking it to be fixed, will post on what my repair guy has to say!!

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. You mean something's loose on the bottom of the Xbox mainboard? Because I haven't soldered anything there, I just soldered the wires into the upper side of the LPC 'holes'. I double checked every wire now, they're all firmly in place.
