I am trying to ftp games in .iso to my xbox that has xbox media centre installed as dash. I am using qwix and when I test the connection it says successful, however when I come to upload to the xbox it just stalls on the upload. I can also connect to my xbox via flashfxp no problem. Does anybody know why qwix cannot upload ?? I suspect its a setting in media centre ??

Qwix sometimes works a bit better with Avalaunch as a dash - but not much.
Qwix isn't very good at telling you why it has failed, but among the causes for your symptoms that I have found are: - disk full - disk not full, but >256GB and NOT formatted with XBPartitioner 1.1 - batch transferring multiple isos, but forgetting that you have to set the destination for each one individually - iso burned from a game that has been patched (by Qwix on a previous upload), but you have the media patch tickbox (or whatever it's called) checked so it's trying to repatch an already patched default.xbe - other ftp session still open to the Xbox - previous Qwix transfer terminated abnormally (requires Qwix shutdown and restart) - Xbox ftp server still shows an old session open, so won't allow the new session. |

Your much better off using the latest DVD2Xbox. Pop in the game and rip it to the HD.

former qwix user, started having problems with empty folders after qwix thought my batch was successful...
not all were empty, just some. I've been having good luck with c-xbox tool 2, v 2.05(2.07 has problems with drag and drop in ftp(and path not filling in) and checksum errors). Since I started using c-xbox, no more empty folders....all good transfers. I use a custom install disk to format my drives, so it may be the >256 mentioned above. |

I use a custom install disk to format my drives, so it may be the >256 mentioned above. You'd best hope not. That particular problem results not only in file corruption, but deletion of files already on the drive. Edit: Well, I say "hope", but this isn't a random error. Either you set the drive up correctly, or you didn't. If the drive wasn't formatted the right way, you will need to reformat it, or you will lose data. Lots of it. wow...I searched this topic further, and had no idea about all of the large hard drive formatting...
I'd say we need some stickies in both the hardware forum, and some modified faq/tutorials... I've seen flaky things with my box, but haven't really noticed corruption that I knew of. That would explain a few things though. Downloaded xbpartioner, and I'm ready for over 1TB now :-) in fact, was there ever an xbox-scene news posting on this? I'm a tsop flasher, and I use x2 4983.06 for my bios...sometimes 4979.06
I went to try to use xbpartitioner, and it gave error about lba 48 v2 I can't find any info on the v2 in x2 bios...so is there a different bios I need to be using? |

Yeah, one of these days I'll post a sticky about it. Doubt there was ever a news post - the issue has been known since before I joined X-S. People first ran into the problem right around the time they first started installing drives larger then 250gb.
X2 4983 supports LBA48 (needed for partitions larger then 129gb), but it doesn't support XBPartitioner's "custom" partitions (needed for partitions larger then 256gb). 4981 (256kb) and 5035 (512kb) are fine. 5035 is what I usually use (though you'll need a 1.0/1.1 system if you want to TSOP flash it). Likewise, some of the X3 BIOS types won't work. But you specifically need an X3 modchip to use those anyway. Note that if you get hit with this issue, the data loss is typically widespread (you can easily trash several tens of gigabytes in a few seconds). The "free space available" indicator is unchanged by it, so it might take you a little while to catch on to what happened. |
