i have an xbox which was built in october-2003, i want to mod it in anyway without using a modchip. i am also new to most of this so i really need help. i can solder aswell. i want to be able to save my games onto my xbox HD (as i many little cousins that arnt very good at handling cd's) and i dont plan on using xbox live. I have windows xp and have a network card with a cross over cable. i was thinkin of doing a soft mod or a tsop flash.

ok you have two options. The modchip way or the tsop way. Most of us here have done it through the mod chip. Its safer in many aspects.

My advise is to get xecuter 2.3b pro from www.system-mods.com and then move on from there. There are many mod chips out there but I would personally go with the one mentioned above. I was specially impressed with their service or quick and prompt delivery.

Get a bigger hd and stuff. Read the tutorials from here on.

Since you don't plan to play xbox live and can solder, I would say to go with TSOP mod.

I did it and it was pretty easy (once you figure out which of the hundreds tutorial to use).

The hard part is to put hte hacked save game onto your xbox's HD. But if you have a friend with a modded xbox, then it'll be easy.

Remember the new xboxes don't have a huge TSOP like 1 mb. moreover to recover from a bad tsop flash is more trivial than a mod chip. I'd say if you can spare approx 50 bucks, go with the xecuter 2.3b lite or pro. but the pros are in stock. Just my $ .02
