Well I finally went about modding today. After reading and chatting on the forums for about a month. Everything went well. I ordered from Divineo.com and got my chip today, a week later. Some of you saw my first topic "Spider Chip 1.1" and several people were argueing on it.

The install went just as I would have hoped. I have a 1.6 xbox and a spider chip 1.1. Before even opening the xbox I made disk images of the "Slayers" auto installer and HackDaBox's Flash Disk. I went to the local hardware store and bought the two screwdrivers I needed. Opened the box and cleared everything out and was now ready to install the chip. I opened the small metal case and removed the chip. Gently laid it onto the LPC like I had read to do. I screwed it in and wired it as the directions said to and tested it. The xbox fragged and at this point I started to worry. It would boot then wait a second turn off, and boot again three times. I then went back and took all the wires out and completely removed the chip from the box and started over using one smaller washer. I screwed it in and test booted. Worked great. I then got to the cromwell bios screen and chose boot from CD and inserted HackDaBox's 1.6 flash cd and went about flashing it. When it was finished I rebooted and started the Slayers Installation, that worked perfect too. I'm now completely set up with my mod box and very satisfied. The Spiderchip is a good chip to those who have patients, can read, and refuse to take negative advice from others. It's nice to know you can prove others wrong on your first install. I just want to thank everybody for the good feedback, tips, and help.

I only have one question. When I reformatted I lost my Xbox Live stuff. I made a complete backup of my harddrive before reformatting so I do have the file somewhere. Could someone tell me what folder to drag onto my xbox hdd to get my live stuff back?

The live profiles aren't stored in any of the partitions you can access through FTP so you've lost your gamertag. Any downloaded files should be stored in the E: udata or tdata folders (dont remember which).

Congrats o nthe install, but you've proven that this poor chip does work... nothing more. The vast number of people before you, who were not able to get it to work represent the majority of the spiderchip community. If i were you i wouldn't be happy... you got ripped off, $40 for an aladdin with some pogos and dangly wires isn't a deal - hell it can't even be disabled through the power/eject buttons LOL

I agree with otherguy, installing a spiderchip is nothing to brag about and they are basically a rip off (you're paying way too much for something that is not as permanent/stable as an Aladdin and has less functionality). Let us know how great this chip is when you bump your xbox and have to open the damn thing up to reseat the chip... laugh.gif

I have a different view on this ...

Congratulations on a top job ... as most people who read here daily know , i don't love the spiderchip but i do my best to make it as easy as possible to install and flash them as i know most noobs are sucked in by the whole solderless thing. Also people read the spiderchip website which is misleading to say the least. Simply and easy install , no soldering required , etc.

Yeah your spiderchip cost more than an aladdin but you didn't pay anyone to install your chip becuase you did it yourself and you have learnt more than you ever could by paying someone else to install it for you. The spiderchip is shipped with a switch making it easy to enable / disable and some people with aladdin want to add a switch because the aladdins cpld code for the switch function is backwards !!!! what i mean is a quick press should be mod enabled and a long press should be mod disabled.

Simply transfer the whole C and E folders over to your xbox to restore whatever is possible.

HackDaBox !
