xbox v_1.0
TSOP X2.5035
XboxHDM 1.9 (several times. With original c files and shadow C files)
2tb Samsung HD204UI (currently unlocked)
SATA/IDE adapter from dealxtreme. tested and working on other boxes.

Have tried rebuilding C and E with several different xboxHDM discs. Using different speeds, different C file sets, dvd vs cd, etc... seems like its working fine. Takes just as long. says it builds all partitions successfully.

Boots discs fine like evox.

can FTP fine once in evox. I can see all partitions (including G) but shows no files in any drive and can't upload or download.

Gets error 13 with no disc in.

I have tried locking the drive (successfully) but still error 13. And have unlocked it fine with ATA in XboxHDM 1.9.

tried using evox tools to format drive

Stock HDD works fine.

Thoughts?

hi..

just throw in hexen "heimdalls xbox engineering disk" (make sure its the dvd version and not the hard disk version i edited, you need the dvd)
tell that to reflash the bios. "i would opt for IND bios. the 256k one will work fine provided you use hexen"
but you can use x2 if you want.
(just telling you to reflash so hexen puts the dash files for a hard modded system in the correct places.)

when its done.
boot back in to hexen with the dvd.

go to run applications and use xbpartitioner to format the partitions properly.
press back to leave that.

go back to the flashing tools and tell it to reinstall clean c drive after tsop flash.

you should now have a booting xbox with unleash-x as a dash.

so boot to unleash-x "no dvd in drive"
ftp a 1kb file to f and g to check the cluster sizes are ok.
if not run xbpartitioner again untill cluster sizes are correct for the partition size..

when thats all done. you can change your dash if you want.

Thanks for suggestions.

"heimdalls xbox engineering disk" wouldn't boot with the new HDD in so I had to hook up the original hard drive, Flashed with IND Bios 256. Hexen still wouldn't boot with new HDD in. Tried hot swaping after Hexen booted. But trying to install anything just freezes the xbox.

strange..

did you burn hexen at 4x or slower to dvd-r..
your xbox light will go red when it starts to boot, so keep an eye out for that. it should also say "linux" under the X logo, the screen will stay black for up to 2minuets as it loads.
I would also make sure that any jumpers on the Sata>ide adapter are set correctly..

i would format the 2tb drive in windows so it is not partitioned for an xbox.

the reason i recomend formating the drive in windows is a utility disk like hexen will detect a new hard disk and prepair it for you..

the rest of the instructions would still need to be followed though.

i woudl also usually recomend you try a didferent dvd drive but you say you have booted a diferent dvd with thatd hdd and dvd player combo. so its narrowed down to media/burn speed IMO.

Reformatted with windows. Hexen still wouldn't boot with new HDD attached. tried then xboxhdm 1.9 again this time wiping fatx partition. and rebuilt from scratch. again took a while, sounded like it was formatting and writing everything fine. however still no luck. No files in any drive. cant FTP in or out.

wt f?

also a side note. after flashing my bios to IND all dashes loaded from cd run really slowwwww. whats that all about? anyways I went back to x2.5035

try booting to a dash using a cd/dvd then putting hexen in the drive. then telling the dash to boot the dvd.
when thats done tell hexen to rebuild a new hard disk.
Which bios you use is up to you. and your own preference, im just saying its easier to get the job done if you flash the bios after you prep the hard disk.

and usually the easiest way to prep the disk is to just boot with hexen in the drive but for some reason you arent able to do that..
I dont get why hexen wont boot for you with that disk though, as you state you can boot dvd's and that your hard modded.

I have tried that method (booting from one disc to another) and hexen still just hangs

Have you tried any other boots disc like AID ? Once you it formatted you will have to re format F and G with 64K cluster sizes other it will be unstable and you will lose data.

So tried a brand new different HDD and same thing.

opened a different working xbox and tried that HDD and same thing

tried making the new HDD in the older xbox and worked good in other xbox but not new one.

finally swapped the SATA/IDE adapter and new xbox works great.

Looked close at both adapters (both from DX both the red ones) and they are ever so slightly different. 3 different size chips. grrrrr.

any one got a different source for known working adapters?
