Is it possible to use a usb converter on the printer port to turn the bulky printer port into a small usb connection. I am aware that the current bios flashing software would not support the usb interface on the computer. .but is ther software in development?

You can buy a LPT to USB converter around somewhere. I believe when you install the driver for it, it 'emulates' itself as a true LPT port. Don't take my word for it; never tried it out, and never met anyone who did, so research first.

Alright, here's a link to Keyspan's USB Parallel Printer Adapter. Seems to emulate as LPT2 (or whatever the next free LPT port is; if you have none, I'd guess it'd be LPT1, if you have 1, it'd be LPT2, etc). Unfortunatley, it seems to have the wrong connector on the 'printer side', but I'm pretty sure you can buy a converter that makes that a standard parallel connector.
Hope this works, or helps, or either.

If you get it working, let us know. It sounds like an interesting idea. Good luck!
