Visual Pinball is a 3D pinball engine based on Windows. There's lots of free tables and tons or recreations of real pinball tables available. I think it'd be great if this was worked on.

I know there's not many Xbox developers these days so there's not much of a chance of this happening but I'd though I'd put it out there.

Could you imagine hooking up an Xbox with VP to an HDTV?

That probably almost costs the same as getting a real pinball machine lol

I would rather have a real one just because I would know its real, and also for the analog feel of pushing the buttons for flappers, being able to bump the table, exc. Bumping a giant LCD might end in disaster lol

Yes but you'd be able to play 100's of pinball machines.

Yeah, but it wouldn't be the same I don't think, as playing the real ones.... I would rather just have a normal TV set up so I can sit down and play, if its going to be virtual.

Wow, I am very interested too! Any Xbox developer is still alive? Even if he cannot do this port, it would be very usefull if he can give us some clue in order that we (developers without experience in Xbox) can go into this project smile.gif

There are a handful of Xbox developers out there still, but most of which don't actively write for Xbox, and those that do are working on their own projects and probably wont port this, but we can always dream rolleyes.gif

At least it can be said that the xbox scene is still alive and kickin'. At least through the mod community.

As long as there is folks who still play xbox, there will always be another port of something. Just don't expect to play visual pinball right away. wink.gif

Yeah, if it does happen, Visual Pinball is a complex program that would take a year or more probably to port... if you figure emulators can take 6 months to a year for a good programmer to port over. Plus im not even sure when programming language VP is written in... if its anything other than straight C++ it becomes a hassle in itself just to rewrite everything to make it work with the XDK

From Wikipedia:

QUOTE
Design

Every Visual Pinball table includes two main parts: the "physical" playfield design and the script which controls the table gameplay. The editor uses Microsoft VBScript for user programming. The game itself is written in C++ with the Active Template Library for making ActiveX controls.[2] Visual Pinball runs on Windows 98 or newer.

If we get a porter I'd say maybe 6 to 8 months provided there are no snags.
