I wanted a switching power supply 120V/240V and also a DVD power kit for my flashing needs. I also didn't want to pay anything for it. Found an old ATX power supply, a couple of switches, some LEDs, and a dead 360 power supply (for the cable) and got to work.

There is nothing new here in terms of the wiring, just thought I might share the final product (I know it looks funny, lol). But works great!

(work log pics are available if anyone is interested)

Nice. Have you soldered the power cable up to psu or is it all just tucked inside? Looks tidy anyway tongue.gif

Here they are:

360 power supply cable from dead brick soldered to yellow (12V), red (5V), and black (ground) leads from ATX power supply.

Green line from ATX PSU soldered to ground pin (you can use a transistor and wire it to the light blue wire from the 360 cable, that way it can turn on from the xbox power button... but I was lazy)

The switches and LED wiring is shown here. I would make you a diagram, but its been done many times, a good example is here. Note that I just tapped into the ATX psu 3.3v lines for the DVD signals and the LED power (so no need for a regulaor and capacitor).

Here are the switches and LEDs in place, along with the DVD cable (the original xbox is in the background probably wondering where that dvd cable was stolen from...hahaha)

A close up of the LED and switches in place

All done, now I just need to label it, and cover that glue gun mess....hmmm

The final product (could probably use a couple of paint coats)

Another more dramatic shot of the final product.

There you go, hope you enjoyed that!

Not sure what you mean, there was definetly soldering, lol. Take a look at the pics that should clear it up.

It did. I meant with some mods with ATX PSUs people make an adapter, xbox cable to atx and plug into psu & xbox, but this looks neater tongue.gif

Ah, I see what you meant. Well, this was an old psu that was sitting there, so I had no problem cutting it up.
