Hello, I need to format my PC this weekend and was thinking of trying the Windows 7 beta. Has anybody tried running jungle flasher in this OS yet??? If so, how successful was it?
Cheers

probably not wise to use windows 7 for any firmware stuff, remember windows 7 is beta which means unfinished software...

you could use xp/vista to dump the keys first then try windows 7 and see if you get the same results.

if you are going to use windows 7 look into getting the mp3 patch too as windows 7 will destroy some mp3 files permanently by rewriting the file headers or something, this bug alone would make me wary or trying it.

You should setup a dual boot or something like that.

I flashed my LiteOn in Windows 7 with JungleFlasher no problems.

Bought a VIA card, total waste of money, multiple drivers, portio32 etc.. froze all the time.

Yanked a sata cable out of my hard drive, plugged it in to the ck3, picked it up instantly and was flashed in about 30 seconds.

Intel X48 chipset.

Well I'm glad someone decided to answer this guy but not my exact same question 3 days ago, but at least it got answered. Would you recommend dosflash over the iprep bootable disk/thumbdrive method?

Jungle flasher will more then likely not work in ANY 64bit OS (portio.sys is 32bit only *I think*, but I could be wrong, and I tried JF in 64bit win7 beta with no luck. JF would launch, but it could not find my drive). But, I was successful in finally flashing my benq using JF in Win7RC1 32bit and in installing portio.sys with my intel ICH9 chipset. (NOTE: I said RC1 NOT BETA!, and yes, RC1 IS publicly available through MS, build 7100)

HINT: Win7 changed the way of installing drivers manually. before you could go through control panel/add device, but in Win7, all that does is open up an automatic scanner with no option to manually install a driver. To manually install a driver, you have to open up "Computer Management" and then click on "Device Manager". Then click on the top-most item in the device list (normally the name of your PC, F.E. "JohnDoe-PC"), then right-click it. Select "Add legacy hardware". From their it should be rather self-explanatory.

So what are the options with Win 7 64? Run it in compatibility mode? Install a copy of windows xp 32 bit? Kind of dumb to have to install an OS just to flash.
